And in good news for hosts on a budget, interior designer Brie Turton, host of Channel 9’s Australia’s Best House, has taken to TikTok to share her versatile table styling hacks – using only affordable pieces from Big W’s new Autumn Winter dining collection.

“You can elevate your table without breaking the bank by simply adding a few pieces to level up your decor,” Turton said.

The interior designer recommended the discount brand’s trendy ribbed highball tumblers to sit alongside its ribbed dinner plates and circular woven placemats – all for under $10 a pop.

In the video, she also shared her top tips for creating a stylish tablescape without burning a hole in your pocket.

For special occasions, Turton said you could “dress up” your table with florals and candles, or pare things back for casual dining. She also demonstrated two easy napkin folding techniques that could easily help transform your tabletop.

Using Big W’s new Brilliant Basics Cotton Napkins in brown, Turton tied a simple knot as an example of a casual dining setting but also showcased an elegant white napkin folded under the plates for a formal tablescape.

The Big W range also includes a four-piece stemmed cocktail glass set for just $15, perfect for amateur mixologists looking to create an open-bar vibe at home.

As for servingware, Turton highlighted Big W’s “beautiful” plates and platters, ranging in size and shape and featuring stone colours and scallop detailing as the foundation for a “luxe for less” charcuterie spread, paired with the elegant gold cheese knife set.
