Taylor Swift, who previously won the award for 2008's Fearless, went on stage to present the award.

The other nominees were Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson.

Lo and behold, Cowboy Carter ended up getting the win. As her name was called, Beyoncé looked especially shocked:

"Oh my god. Wow, I was really not expecting this," she said upon taking to the stage. "I want to thank God, oh my God, that I'm still able to do what I love after so many years."

After thanking "all the incredible country artists that accepted this album," she continued, "I think sometimes genre is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists and I just want to encourage people to do what they're passionate about and stay persistent."

The singer further thanked her family — Blue Ivy and Jay-Z were both in attendance — and concluded, "I'd like to thank God again and my fans and I still am in shock. Thank you so much for this honor."

The win is especially noteworthy given that Beyoncé was snubbed from this year's Country Music Awards, which did give accolades to country newcomer Post Malone.

Thanking the local firefighters who presented her with the award, she took to the stage to say, "I'd like to thank and acknowledge and praise all of the firefighters for keeping us safe. I just feel very full and very honored. It's been many, many years. I just want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer. All of the hard work."
