Bachelor winner Holly reveals why Jimmy’s family apologised to her
Season nine of The Bachelor officially came to an emotional end on Thursday night, with Jimmy Nicholson declaring his love for Holly Kingston in Alice Springs.
The new couple spoke with Yahoo Lifestyle all about their journey finding love on the reality TV show and revealed why a number of Jimmy’s family members have since apologised to Holly.
As fans saw in the finale, Jimmy’s father Noel was very vocal about his preference for runner-up Brooke Cleal over Holly, saying that she was unlike girls Jimmy had previously dated.
Holly has now said that she already knew about his dad’s opinion and they’ve since reconciled over “quite a few” calls.
“Let’s just say Noel’s been doing a little bit of grovelling via FaceTime,” she laughed.

“I kind of was aware that he was Team Brooke when we wrapped up filming. We had quite a few FaceTimes where Noel was like, ‘Now you’re going to see a few things but just be wary’.”
“He is seriously backpedalling,” Jimmy added. “If there was a reverse velodrome Olympics event he’d win it. He’s digging himself out of a hole.”
But Jimmy’s dad isn’t the only family member who has recently asked for Holly’s forgiveness.
The 27-year-old said that she received some messages after the dinner party episode featuring Jimmy’s sister Tahnee and his cousin Lisa aired.
In the episode, Holly had burst into tears at the dinner table after being thrown under the bus by her fellow contestants, leading Jimmy’s family to believe that she wasn’t a good match for him.
Now that the entire backstory of the C-bomb saga has aired on TV, Holly said that Tahnee has apologised to her for her comments.
“She just said ‘Can you please tell her we're so sorry, we had no idea this was all going on’. It all came out in the wash in the end,” she admitted.“I kind of was aware that he was Team Brooke when we wrapped up filming. Both Holly and Jimmy also confessed that the dinner party was the moment that they found to be the hardest to watch.
“That was a night where I really thought I was going to leave the mansion,” Holly acknowledged.
“I just didn't know where my connection was with Jimmy and I was not used to the kind of personality types that were in the house.
“I’ve been okay watching Jimmy make out with the girls, that's been fine. It was purely the drama with the girls that I just really didn't want to relive.”
Jimmy echoed his girlfriend’s sentiments, saying it was “tough” watching the drama unfold.
“I knew that it was all absolute rubbish, but it was just unfortunate that that had to happen with my family there as well because it's just wasting everyone's time and I think a couple of girls were just jumping up and down to try and get themselves a blue tick or something like that,” he remarked.
While Holly and Jimmy’s onscreen love story had a fairytale ending, Brooke was unfortunately left heartbroken and blindsided with the final decision.
The couple confirmed that they haven’t spoken to the runner-up since filming wrapped, but they plan on doing it in the future.
“We both absolutely think Brooke is an amazing girl. She’s a genuine sweetheart,” Jimmy said.
“At a time that feels right we’d love to reach out, but I think right now it's probably not the best thing for her. But I could not speak more highly of her. She's absolutely lovely.
With their romance finally made public, Holly and Jimmy are “so excited” for their future together and the fact that they get to live as “normal people”.
“So relieved to have it all out in the open and to finally reunite last night to watch the episode,” she said, before adding with a laugh, “Jimmy cried like a baby the whole episode.
“It was really really nice to watch and we just feel so lucky that we've got the initial stages of our love story all documented.”
