Bachelor Jed McIntosh's bold demand to Channel 10

One of next year's Bachelors Jed McIntosh was initially approached to appear as a contestant on Brooke Blurton's season of The Bachelorette in 2021.

Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal a source close to the drummer claims that Warner Bros casting producers reached out to the musician after noticing him online thanks to his alternative look – but he declined for one reason.

“Jed basically responded to them and said no I don't want to be a contestant, I want to be The Bachelor instead. He didn't think this would ever happen, but months later he got a call saying bosses would love to meet him and his request actually happened," the source said.

"He held out because he knew if he appeared on Brooke's season he could be out in the first episode and would gain no public profile.”

The revelation comes after Channel 10 was forced to have a 'stern chat' with the stars of next year's season of The Bachelor as they attempted to cash in ahead of its premiere next month.

Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that network bosses were recently surprised to see Thomas Malucelli start teasing a spiritual self-help book he's penned on Instagram – similar to how Jed has been randomly dropping new music in the lead-up to the show's release.

A source told Yahoo Lifestyle the Bachelors have been warned to hold off promoting these new projects.

"When the leads have so many projects ready to drop and promote before the show, it ruins the integrity a little and the illusion these people are there looking for love. They've been told to hold off with their side projects until after the show has aired," the source said.
