Aussies reveal the hottest accent from around the world: 'So mesmerising'

Aussies have revealed the accents they find most attractive from around the world after a Reddit user asked, "[Are] there any accents you find particularly attractive on a man or a woman from anywhere in the world?"

While there were a few surprises in there (the Kiwi accent?!), it came as little surprise to find that the number one accent that Aussies find attractive is the Irish accent, which was followed closely by the British and Scottish accents.

The American accent came in at joint number four with French, with a few people who said the US accent shared various areas in particular that they liked, including Chicago, Boston and the southern states.

Following behind American and French were German, Spanish and then Russian.

Honourable mentions also went to Australian, Italian, South African, New Zealand and Scandinavian accents.

"Irish. I travelled through Ireland years ago and fell in love with every woman I spoke to because of their accent, which was awkward given I was travelling with my girlfriend," one user wrote.

"Yes, definitely Irish! Have to say the NZ accent hurts my ears, sorry Kiwis!" another said.

"Spanish is amazing and, in my experience, rare," a third said. "Irish as well, I’ve set my Siri to have an Irish accent."

"Scottish and Irish 😍," yet another said.

"Unpopular opinion, love a southern accent like Tom Hanks in Ladykillers or Zorg in Fifth Element," one said.

"Ooh yes, Scottish accent is HOT 🔥," someone else said.

Some were oddly specific, with one user writing, "A woman from England speaking a slightly misaligned Queen's English but with a soft voice and a lisp. 😍😍."

"I have always loved a British or South African accent," another said.

"African accents. So mellow, so mesmerising," one user added.

TheKnowledgeAcademy.com previously surveyed 2,500 single men and women to find out which accent left them blushing, with 86 per cent of women saying the Scottish accent, and 88 per cent of men saying the Spanish accent.
