Prince Harry's 'unreasonable' demand ahead of UK trip: 'Mistake'
After turning down the offer to stay at Buckingham Palace during his upcoming UK trip, a royal insider has claimed Prince Harry has made a major mistake.
Prince Harry has reportedly made a "mistake" with an "unreasonable expectation" ahead of his return to the UK this week. The Duke of Sussex will be in the UK for his High Court trial against News Group Newspapers.
Harry alleges he was targeted by journalists and private investigators working for the newspaper group, who used unlawful activity to gain information about him. News Group Newspapers has denied any unlawful activity took place.
Prince Harry's major 'mistake' ahead of UK trip
During the trip, Harry will be given "limited police protection" from armed officers from the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command after losing a legal battle for taxpayer-funded security.
After reports Harry turned down an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace, BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has told The Mirror, this was an unwise decision.
"I think he will be mildly annoyed that he is not being given full police protection, but this is a step in the right direction as far as he is concerned," she said. "I think it is a PR mistake to turn down accommodation at Buckingham Palace, where security is guaranteed and already paid for.
"It seems unreasonable to expect police protection around a hotel just because he chooses to turn down a perfectly good offer of secure accommodation."

Meghan Markle will not fly to the UK with Harry and will remain at home with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Harry has previously said it was unsafe for him to bring his family to the UK unless they have police protection.
"I still don't think he will feel comfortable bringing Meghan and the children here unless there is a guarantee of full police protection," Jennie added. "And I suspect Meghan has no particular desire to come back here anyway."
Harry has travelled to the UK several times without seeing anyone from his family, including his father, King Charles, who is currently battling cancer. It's believed the pair aren't on speaking terms due to the issue of his security.
He and Prince William are believed to have not spoken since 2022, when Queen Elizabeth II died. They were in the same place last year, however, when they attended the memorial service of their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes, but they did not speak and kept their distance.
Jennie added, however, that "it's possible" Harry will meet with his father, "However, there is absolutely no sign of any reconciliation between Harry and William. So any meeting between them is remains unlikely in the extreme."
Prince Harry and Prince Andrew 'wary' of Prince William's 'wrath'
It follows reports that Prince Harry and Prince Andrew are becoming "wary" of Prince William's "wrath" as he prepares behind the scenes for his role as King.
Speaking to Fox News, British royal expert Hilary Fordwich has claimed that William feels the future of The Firm is looming over his head. She said, "Prince William is dedicated to duty, as imbued in him by Queen Elizabeth II, who tutored him every Sunday regarding his royal duties."
"He’s also under huge generational pressure since the increasing public popularity of the monarchy ranks highest for both him and Princess Catherine."
Hilary adds that Harry and Andrew will likely be nervous about what's to come when William does become King.
"Harry’s whinge fest Spare, with its acerbic accusations against the royal family, particularly his denigration of the Princess of Wales, rendered it the 'final straw' as William told those around him," Hilary claimed.

She added that William felt he and Kate were "bitterly attacked" in the tell-all, and as for Andrew, he feels his uncle "has put the family in jeopardy" with his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Hilary continued, "He won’t and can’t risk public association with disastrous members of the family who merely serve as distractions from public duty."
