Royal courtiers are breaking their silence in a bombshell new book about the monarchy somewhat dramatically called Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, and they have...a lot to say.

According to one anonymous person who spoke to author Tom Quinn (via an excerpt in The Times), Queen Camilla "hated the idea of being Queen" and would "regularly" say to King Charles "Can’t we get away from all this protocol? It’s all bollocks." Apparently Charles "hates swearing" and replied "You’re doing it for me, darling."

Per Quinn, royal protocol can be pretty wild behind closed doors. As he writes, "Protocol means suits must be pressed and laid out after a period of consultation the night before; shoes must be polished, ties chosen. Baths must be run at precisely the same time each day and both King Charles and the Prince of Wales, Prince William, are prone to tantrums if things are not done to their liking."

As a source put it, “They both get irritated very quickly. They are very picky. It comes naturally to them.”

Meanwhile, Quinn reports that Kate Middleton likes to tease him about the fact that Queen Camilla is a descendant of his great-great-great-grandfather Edward VII's favorite mistress. AND he claims Prince William and Prince Harry's nicknames for their step-mom include Lady Macbeth, Cruella de Vil and the Witch of the West.

Truly a lot to process here, but gotta say: love it when the royal courtiers decide it's time to spill.
