Aldi mums outraged over 'irresponsible' paint packaging: 'It would be a disaster'

Customers have expressed concerns over kids paint packaged like yogurt.

Aldi's latest Special Buy has sparked a colourful conversation on social media, but it's not because of its low, low price or creative potential. No, it's because this kids' paint comes packaged in containers that look suspiciously like squeezy yogurt pouches.

One Aldi customer took to social media to express her frustration, asking, "Who's idea was it to put paint into the same pouches as kids eat yogurt out of?" Raising a valid concern, she noted that "small children can't read," and accidents are bound to happen when paint is packaged like food. "Puree also comes in food pouches off the shelf," she added.

And she wasn't alone in her sentiments. Other parents chimed in, echoing similar worries.

"I have one of those kids who would eat this, so for that reason I wouldn't buy it," shared one concerned parent. "My 2-year-old would think it's yogurt," agreed another parent.

Another added, "Young kids would definitely not be able to tell the difference. And yes, it comes down to parent supervision, but I still wouldn't buy this product."

Initially, the consensus seemed to be that while supervision is crucial, the packaging choice is risky. "It's irresponsible packaging, and little kids will be more likely to ingest the paint," commented one parent. "As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be a disaster for some," lamented another, "it only takes a second with your back turned for them to attempt to eat it."

"I saw it and thought it was weird," agreed another Aldi shopper.

Parental responsibility and supervision

But as the conversation progressed, more arguments emerged, suggesting that it's ultimately up to parents to ensure safety. "Who is leaving their kids who can't read alone with acrylic paint?" one person questioned. Another joked, "You know wine comes in these pouches too? Won't someone think of the children!"

"Maybe parents should parent the kids," suggested another, implying that proper supervision is the key. Meanwhile, some actually praised the convenience of the packaging. "I bought these thinking they are an amazing idea! Quick and clean," one person exclaimed.

"You can also buy beauty products in these pouches," someone else pointed out. "Just because they're in these pouches doesn't mean they're for kids or should be near a child who doesn't know how to use what's in it properly."

So, what's the verdict? Well, it seems opinions are divided. While some see it as a potential hazard, others view it as a clever solution for less mess. Whether it's a stroke of genius or a recipe for disaster remains to be seen!
