Move over, frozen pizza – there's a new easy Friday night dinner in town. Aldi's $9.99 Japanese style vegetable Gyoza has been a major hit with people online, and shoppers are singing its praises. If you’re not yet acquainted with these delightful dumplings, let us introduce you.

For the uninitiated, Gyoza are Japanese dumplings typically filled with ground meat and vegetables, wrapped in a thin dough. They can be steamed, boiled, or pan-fried to crispy perfection. Originating from China, these dumplings are also known as jiaozi, but the Japanese version, Gyoza, often has a thinner wrapper and a more garlicky flavour. They’re perfect as a snack, appetiser, or a main dish, and Aldi’s vegetable version has quickly become a fan favourite.

While the gyoza themselves aren’t new to the store, a recent post in the Aldi Mums Facebook group has sparked renewed enthusiasm for the dumplings, with people even swapping notes on the best way to cook them. It all began when one curious member shared a photo of the product and posed the question, "Talk to me about these... how's the texture/flavour?"

This simple query unleashed a flood of responses, with fans raving about this affordable, tasty dinner option.

"Family of seven ate 45 gyoza for dinner tonight," one enthusiastic shopper shared, pointing out just how popular these dumplings are in her household.

Another fan exclaimed, "They're my favourite. Always have a pack in my freezer. I make a dipping sauce with kewpie, chilli oil, vinegar, and soy."

"To die for," one person declared, while another simply stated, "THE BEST."

For many, these gyoza are the ultimate go-to for a lazy dinner. "We love the veggie ones. Kids love them also," a parent shared their family-friendly appeal.

"Yummy! I steam them, sometimes fry with some simple veg eg onion, spring onion and drizzle a simple sauce over. Eg soy and sesame oil or a sauce with fish sauce and sugar," said another home cook.

A third user chimed in, "I love them! For quick ramen addition I add them to any noodle water, they cook in 5-10 minutes. Otherwise, steamed are amazing as well."

Of course, not all the feedback was positive.

"Not a fan," someone bluntly stated. Another user complained, "They are mooshy," while someone else remarked, "Texture is a no for me, flavour isn't great either."

Whether you steam them, fry them, or toss them in your ramen, these dumplings are a quick, easy, and delicious addition to your meal repertoire.
