Prince William left red-faced over comedian's quip: 'Not hitting on your wife!'
British comedian and presenter Alan Carr left Prince William red-faced while hosting The Royal Variety Performance in front of a large crowd that included the Duke of Cambridge and his wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.
As he began the night, Alan greeted William and Kate to the 150th anniversary night of the Royal Variety Performance, directing his attention to Kate, telling the mother-of-three that she looked "absolutely beautiful".
"Sir, I am sure you do not know who I am but I am not hitting on your wife," Alan teased William, who was giggling.
Alan has been married to husband Paul Drayton since 2018. The pair has recently made headlines as Paul was involved in a drink-driving incident earlier this year, that saw him reverse into a police car and narrowly avoid a mother pushing a pram.

Kate did look incredible at the event, wearing a green sequined gown by Jenny Packham, which is believed to be the same dress she wore during the royal tour to Pakistan in October 2019.
William, meanwhile, wore a navy velvet jacket with black bow tie for the evening.
Kate and William recently shared their annual royal Christmas card with an adorable snap with their children, Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and three-year-old Prince Louis.
It was taken during a family trip to Jordan earlier this year, with the whole family wearing their best summer attire.
It comes after reports Kate has been left "really, really upset" over the royal family's strained relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
An insider reportedly told People that Kate has found it "tough" seeing her husband "so distraught" over his relationship with his brother.
"Everything with Harry and Meghan has been hugely stressful, but if anything, it's pulled [her and William] closer together," the source said.
"She was upset about it because [William] was so upset."
It comes as reports suggest Harry and Meghan will not be spending Christmas with the rest of the royal family in the UK, and will instead head to their mansion in Montecito, California.
Insiders claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex turned down an invitation to spend the festive period with the Queen and other family members, mostly to avoid the media scrutiny.
"There's a lot that goes into the logistics and the planning of the family Christmas, so of course, staff know that Harry and Meghan are not coming. If they were, they would have communicated it to their family by now," a source told Page Six.
It would no doubt be a blow for the Queen, who has yet to meet Harry and Meghan's second child Lilibet, as well as getting through her first holiday season without husband Prince Philip.
