Adeline Rudolph & Arden Cho To Topline K-Pop Thriller ‘Perfect Girl’ From Hong Won-Ki & Badlands; Upgrade & CAA Media Finance Taking To EFM

Adeline Rudolph, star of this fall’s Mortal Kombat 2, and Arden Cho (Partner Track) are set to lead Perfect Girl, a psychological thriller set against the competitive world of K-pop, from director Hong Won-ki (Goedam) and Scott Strauss’s Badlands.

Billed as Scream meets Black Swan, the film is based on a 2023 Black List script by Lynn Q. Yu. We were first to report on director Hong’s attachment last summer when the project was known as Unnie. Upgrade will introduce the project to buyers next week at EFM, with CAA Media Finance handling domestic rights.

Perfect Girl centers on a brand-new K-Pop super group that’s preparing to be launched to the world at a massive concert. A group of girls have trained for years for only four spots, and the final cut is only a week away. The competition is off the charts. But when a talented and mysterious new girl is introduced at the last minute, things start to get strange — girls are being hunted and attacked one by one. Who is responsible for this carnage? But more importantly — who will make the final cut?

Badlands’ Strauss, Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, Renegade Capital’s Andrew Schwartzberg and Jon Shiffman, and Desert Bloom’s Jennice Lee will produce, with K-pop artists Sunshine and Moonshine creating an original soundtrack for the film.

“In addition to compelling scares and an authentic portrayal of K-pop, Director Hong envisions an elevated psychological thriller which demands actresses of Adeline and Arden’s caliber,” said producer Strauss. “After a long search, we’ve found the perfect leads for PERFECT GIRL.”

Soon to be seen starring in New Line’s Mortal Kombat sequel directed by Simon McQuoid which is coming up for release on October 24, Rudolph has previously been seen on series like Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Resident Evil for Netflix and Riverdale at The CW.

Breaking out with a role in MTV’s Teen Wolf, Cho recently led Netflix’s Partner Track and recurs as June in the streamer’s Avatar: The Last Airbender. Other series regular credits include multiple seasons of Chicago Med for NBC. On the feature side, she starred in Elissa Down’s The Honor List for Lionsgate.
