Abbie Chatfield hits back as her new boyfriend is accused of 'using her' for fame
Abbie has also responded to comments suggesting the musician is 'love bombing' her.
After ‘hard launching’ her relationship with Peking Duk musician Adam Hyde last week, Abbie Chatfield has already been forced to defend their blossoming romance. The couple has been very open about their relationship since announcing they were dating and detailed everything from their sex life and future kids’ names to how they navigated Adam’s cancer diagnosis together on a recent episode of Abbie’s podcast It’s A Lot.
While a majority of Abbie’s fans have been thrilled by her new relationship, describing the pair as “soul mates” and “a match made in heaven”, a handful of people have accused Adam of “using” the media personality for fame. One follower even suggested that Adam was only dating Abbie to further his music career as their hard launch came just over a week after the release of his new EP ‘JESTERMAN’ under his solo venture Keli Holiday.

Twist in Dom Calarco and Abbie Chatfield's 'feud' as old comments resurface
“PR move of the century. This guy knows what he’s doing,” the user commented on TikTok. “He’s working hard to promote his new stuff.”
Abbie was quick to hit back at the unfair accusations, writing, “I was listening to his music when I was 20 years old lmao”. She also reminded fans how Adam is very much an established musician in his own right, having won multiple ARIA awards throughout his lengthy career.
Abbie slams 'love bombing' accusations
Meanwhile, another fan recently accused Adam of “love bombing” Abbie – which is an act of giving someone excessive attention, admiration, and affection to make the recipient feel dependent and obligated to that person.
The FBoy Island host responded to this on TikTok, saying: “I’ve known [Adam] for two years, I’ve been seeing him on and off throughout those two years, been friends during those two years and we’ve been kind of ‘back on’ for about six months now, officially dating again for like, three months. I know this man, and him paying for an IUD is not love bombing. That is a considerate man who knows his role in contraception and is considerate of me.”
An IUD is a small contraceptive device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy, which Abbie believes shouldn’t be something that only a woman should pay for.

Abbie went on to say that people shouldn’t overuse words like “love bombing”, “gaslighting” and “narcissist” on the internet so they don’t lose their significance in real instances of abuse.
“I’m really over seeing these comments. I don’t know if it’s that you’re jealous or you’re bitter or you’re trying to think of a negative comment - if so, hope you get better. But if you actually think this is love bombing, I’m genuinely worried for you,” she remarked.
“I’m not particularly offended, I’m more really concerned when people say things like ‘this is love bombing’, ‘this is gaslighting’, because what you’re doing is taking away the weight of those words for actual abuse victims and this is not love bombing. You saw a man be nice to me.”
A friend of the star tells Yahoo Lifestyle that comments like this are “why Abbie said she’d never have a public relationship again” as it’s always just “pointless drama”.
