Aaron Taylor-Johnson Has Reportedly Been Offered the Role of James Bond

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is rumored to be stepping into the role of Bond, James Bond.

The British actor, who’s appeared in action flicks including Avengers: Age of Ultron and Kick-Ass, has been formally offered the job as 007 and is expected to sign the contract sometime this week, The Sun first reported. According to the U.K. newspaper, Eon Productions (the production company behind the film series) is slated to begin shooting the next installment, Bond 26, later this year. The tabloid noted that the motion picture has been delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes.

A source told the outlet: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

Following No Time to Die, there have been several worthy contenders vying to become the world’s most famous secret agent including Idris Elba, Jamie Dornan, Theo James, Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, and Regé-Jean Page. Taylor-Johnson has been among the frontrunners ever since Daniel Craig exited the franchise in 2021. Craig’s five-film run began in 2006 after Pierce Brosnan; however, the Englishman admittedly had no regrets when it came time to leave the iconic spy character behind.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson was reportedly offered the role of James Bond following Daniel Craig’s departure.

“I am very proud of what we have done,” Craig told ET. “I am so lucky to have had this opportunity the last 16 years. What happens in the future, it just feels like it is going to take 15 years to unpack all of this, to figure out what just happened.”

While nothing has been set in stone yet, Taylor-Johnson, who also starred in Bullet Train and Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals, didn’t exactly shut down rumors about being Craig’s potential successor. “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in the role of James Bond,” he revealed to fashion magazine Numero last week. In the meantime, the 33-year-old actor is set to play Howie in the upcoming action-comedy The Fall Guy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, which is due to hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
