The 7 Best Watches of the Week, from Melissa Gorga’s Cartier Santos to Joe Jonas’ Hublot

This week’s line-up kicks off with Melissa Gorga who was launching her own line of cookies in New York while wearing a fabulous iced-out Cartier Santos. Joe Jonas was in Miami at a Hublot launch party wearing the evening’s star timepiece, the Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Carbon limited edition by Samuel Ross, while Aaron Taylor-Johnson was attending a movie premiere in Los Angeles wearing a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona.

IWC released a new model in its Ingenieur Automatic line this week with sightings in Bergamo, Italy with Álvaro Morata, and in London, England with Joseph Quinn.

Her Cartier Santos comes in a 40mm white gold case and is fully set with diamonds on the bezel, case, and bracelet (totalling 20 carats). Musician and actor Joe Jonas attended the Hublot SR_A 3.0 launch party at Miami Ironside this week wearing the star of the show – the Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Carbon which was designed in collaboration with artist and designer Samuel Ross. Limited to 50 pieces, the wristwatch features a shiny micro-blasted titanium and frosted gray carbon case with a honeycomb pattern that extends across the movement. The timepiece is powered by Hublot’s automatic tourbillon that comes with a three-day power reserve and displays the micro-rotor on the dial side of the watch. You can expect to pay around $145,500 for this wristwatch.

Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson attended the premiere of Focus Features’ film Nosferatu at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood this week. He could be seen sporting a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in yellow gold. Housed in a 40 mm yellow gold case with a champagne-colored dial and black subdials, this timepiece is photographed here on a black Oysterflex rubber bracelet, although Taylor-Johnson has gone for the all-gold look with a matching yellow gold bracelet. IWC unveiled a new model in its Ingenieur Automatic line this week with a blue dial (ref. IW328907), marking the fifth iteration of this iconic IWC reference, which is also available in a choice of a black, gray, white, or green dial. The timepiece was immediately spotted on the wrists of a host of celebrities this week, including Spanish international footballer Álvaro Borja Morata Martín, who was photographed drinking a coffee at the Gewiss football stadium in Bergamo, Italy, just before the match between Atalanta BC and AC Milan. The price tag of this timepiece is around $13,500.

The IWC Ingenieur Automatic with its new blue geometrical dial was also spotted on English actor Joseph Quinn this week in London, England. Quinn was at the 27th British Independent Film Awards at the Roundhouse wearing his new IWC. This new model is the latest interpretation of the iconic Ingenieur SL from the 1970s which was designed by Gérald Genta. The new version comes in a 40 mm stainless steel case with an integrated bracelet and is finished with brushed and polished bevels. It comes at a price of around $13,500

Hot off the announcement of getting the leading role in Luca Guadagnino’s American Psycho remake, Austin Butler was spotted wearing a Breitling Chronomat GMT 40 in San Francisco this week where he was attending the SFFILM Awards. Thanks to its automatic Caliber 32, the Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 allows the user to track a second time zone and know, at a glance, whether it is day or night. It is also an all-purpose sports watch with its 40 mm stainless steel case, matching integrated steel bracelet, easily adjustable onion crown, and 200-meter water resistance. Supermodel Karolina Kurkova attended an Art Basel luncheon in Breitling’s boutique in the Miami Design District this week wearing the brand’s Super Chronomat Automatic 38 with an icy blue dial and a sprinkling of lab-grown diamonds on the bezel. The watch is powered by the COSC-certified Caliber 17 and is housed in a 38mm stainless steel case that is adorned with a blue ceramic crown and blue ceramic inserts at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. It is completed with a sporty integrated bracelet featuring an elegant system of links. Other details include a date at 6 o’clock and water resistance of 100 meters.
