‘The View’s’ Ana Navarro Scolds Joy Behar for NSFW Trump Joke
Joy Behar earned herself a scolding from co-host Ana Navarro on Friday’s The View when she made a NSFW quip about Donald Trump’s comment that it’s “hard to bring things down when they’re up,” while discussing his campaign promises on cost of groceries with Time magazine.
“I think it’s the other way around too,” Behar said with a wink during the show’s first segment, prompting smirks and grimaces from her co-hosts. In case the audience didn’t catch the joke, she doubled down, “It’s very hard—very hard, he says,” with a hand motion reminiscent of Trump’s infamous NSFW performance with a microphone on the campaign trail.
“It’s a morning show, Joy!” Navarro said, banging her hand on the table. Behar joked in response, “It’s in your head.”
The hosts ultimately regrouped to discuss Trump’s comments in the Time interview, during which the Republican hosts were unsurprised at Trump’s selection for the coveted cover for a second time. After all, “the Eras Tour” is over, said former Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin, and “he is the most powerful force in American culture and politics right now.”
“It’s not always been great people that have been on the cover of Time,” Navarro said, mentioning that homicidal dictators Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin had also been chosen as Times’ Person of the Year.
After praising Trump for “talking about the things people care about on the campaign trail,” like grocery prices, Griffin admitted that his planned tariffs are “literally going to bring the cost of every single thing up.” She still frowned incredulously, however, when Behar said, “I don’t know why people voted for this man.”
“They’re thinking of the Trump years before COVID,” Griffin tried to explain, prompting Sunny Hostin to chime in with, “You mean the Obama [economy]?”
