1. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice is back! The 1988 spook-comedy classic and three of its stars — Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara, and Winona Ryder — returned for a sequel that recently premiered in theaters to largely positive reviews . This time around, it's Lydia Deetz (Ryder), who is raising a teen daughter of her own, Astrid (played by Jenna Ortega), when they're confronted with the unwelcome return of eccentric spirit Betelgeuse (Keaton).

2. The Front Room
Brandy is in her dramatic actor era with the new A24 film The Front Room. The movie, which was released on September 6, follows an expectant mother who is increasingly at war with her disproving mother-in-law after she moved in with her and her husband. Worse, her MIL seems to have her eyes on their unborn child. The film has some serious horror movie pedigree as it's written and directed by Max and Sam Eggers. They're brothers of director Robert Eggers, who co-wrote The Lighthouse with Max and is featured later in this list for his upcoming film, Nosferatu.

3. The Thicket
In this adaption of author Joe R. Lansdale's novel of the same name, a bounty hunter (Peter Dinklage) leads an unlikely team to find the infamous killer Cutthroat Bill (Juliette Lewis) who has taken a young woman hostage. The film debuted on September 6.

4. The Killer's Game
Dave Bautista is a hitman with a hit...on himself. After being diagnosed with a terminal illness, Joe Flood (Bautista) puts a hit on himself only to later learn his condition is not fatal. Now, he must fend off his biggest foes to save himself and his relationship with Maize (Sofia Boutella).

5. My Old Ass
Maisy Stella stars as Elliott, a newly 18-year-old who hallucinates her 39-year-old self (played by Aubrey Plaza) while on mushrooms during a camping trip, forcing both her current and future self to reconcile with their goals and dreams. Get ready to cry and call your mom!

6. Transformers One
Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry lead the star-studded voice cast in this animated Transformers origin story about two "lonely worker bots who can't even transform." You probably know these bots by name: Orion (Hemsworth), aka Optimus Prime, and D-16 (Henry), aka Megatron.

7. The Substance
The Demissance is here! Demi Moore stars in what looks to be a wild ride of a thriller. Legendary celeb Elisabeth Sparkle (Moore) copes with turning 50 by taking a substance promising youthfulness by unlocking a younger version of herself named Sue (Margaret Qualley). Of course, things don't seem to go quite as planned.

8. Never Let Go
Halle Berry plays a mother keeping herself and her two kids alive in their woodland home after a deadly entity destroyed much of the world. They've survived by staying physically attached to their house via long ropes. However, one of her sons is starting to believe there might not actually be a threat out there, leaving the family in peril.

This one is for Ocean's Eleven fanatics. With Wolfs , George Clooney and Brad Pitt get the thriller-comedy treatment. They play opposing lone-wolf "fixers" who must reluctantly work together as their night increasingly goes awry.

11. Megalopolis
Francis Ford Coppola's long-awaited passion project about a dystopian architect is finally coming to theaters. Coppola ideated the film in the '70s and began working on it in the '80s. Adam Driver leads the cast as the aforementioned architect who battles the city's merciless mayor (Giancarlo Esposito). The highly anticipated film received mixed reviews at the Cannes Film Festival in the spring, and The New Yorker called it "madly captivating."

14. Joker: Folie à Deux
Lady Gaga is entering her anti-hero era. She joins the Joker universe as Harley Quinn and acts alongside Joaquin Phoenix as the famed green-haired comic book villain, a role that won him an Oscar in 2019 for the first film. In this sequel, Joker meets and falls in love with Harley. Based on the gorgeously shot trailer, expect fantasy sequences and musical numbers.

15. The Outrun
Based on Scottish journalist Amy Liptrot's 2017 memoir of the same name, The Outrun follows an expat in London (played by Saoirse Ronan) who returns to her native rocky Orkney Islands home in Scotland while attempting to recover from alcoholism.

16. Saturday Night
Saturday Night Live is getting the "based on a true story" treatment courtesy of Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Juno director Jason Reitman. Starring The Fabelmans' Gabriel LaBelle as SNL creator Lorne Michaels, the film follows the long-running and hallmark sketch show's rocky debut in 1975. It boasts a seriously star-studded cast, including Rachel Sennott, Lamorne Morris, Kaia Gerber, Dylan O'Brien, Nicholas Braun, and Willem Dafoe among many, many others.

If you've ever wondered how a pope is elected, Conclave offers a fictional account of the highly secretive process. Based on Robert Harris's 2016 novel of the same name, the film stars Ralph Fiennes as a cardinal leading efforts to name a new leader of the Catholic Church only to learn unsavory news about the recently deceased Pope. Directed by All Quiet on the Western Front's Edward Berger, Conclave looks like a feast for the cinephile's eyes.

If Hugh Grant starring in an A24 horror film was on your bingo card, well then you're one lucky winner. The legendary rom-com leading man has been making unexpected choices lately like starring in the HBO whodunnit miniseries The Undoing and playing an Oompa-Loompa in Wonka . 27. Gladiator II
Paul Mescal is picking up Russell Crowe's mantle as a new generation's Gladiator in this sequel to the juggernaut 2000 film. Notably, Crowe is not expected to appear in the film as his character Maximus. Instead, the sequel is set over 20 years after the first film and chronicles Mescal as Lucilla (Connie Nielsen)'s son who is forced into slavery and must fight as a gladiator to conquer the oppressive rulers suppressing Rome's people.

Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk director Barry Jenkins is back with a Lion King prequel about Mufasa's origin story. 35. Babygirl
Nicole Kidman stays booked and busy. In the past few months, she's starred in the rom-com A Family Affair with Zac Efron and the whodunnit miniseries The Perfect Couple — both for Netflix. Next up, she's got a theatrical release and an intriguing one at that. Kidman is set to play a New York CEO who starts a relationship with her intern, played by Harris Dickinson. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold is back with another musician biopic. Having directed Joaquin Phoenix to an Oscar nomination as Johnny Cash (and Reese Witherspoon to a win as June Carter) in 2005's Walk the Line , Mangold is now turning his attention to Bob Dylan. Timothée Chalamet plays the folk singer-songwriter as he rises to acclaim in the '60s.

37. The Fire Inside
The Fire Inside chronicles the real-life story of Flint, Michigan, boxer Claressa "T-Rex" Shields who became the first American to win a gold medal in boxing at the 2012 London Olympics. She'd triumphantly go on to win gold again four years later in Rio. The film is Rachel Morrison's directorial debut, though you've probably seen her work before. She's also an Oscar-nominated cinematographer whose credits include Black Panther, Mudbound, and Fruitvale Station . Plus, Moonlight director Barry Jenkins wrote The Fire Island, too.
