The 2025 Critics Choice Awards have been postposed amid the devastating wildfires in Southern California, PEOPLE confirms.

The ceremony was originally scheduled to be hosted by Chelsea Handler on Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

A new date for the ceremony is set for Sunday, Jan. 26, still at the Barker Hangar. It'll be broadcast live on E! and streaming on Peacock the following day.

"This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all who have been affected,” Critics Choice Association CEO Joey Berlin said in a statement.

As of Wednesday, Jan. 8, two people had died in the Eaton Fire, as L.A. County Fire Department chief Anthony C. Marrone announced, per CBS News and NBC News. Five separate wildfires were burning in the Los Angeles area as of Jan. 8, according to CalFire, and more than 30,000 residents had been evacuated from the Pacific Palisades and neighboring areas by the afternoon of Jan. 7.

Earlier this week, the SAG Awards canceled its live, in-person nominations announcement, and L.A. film premieres for movies like Unstoppable and The Last Showgirl were also skipped out of an abundance of caution.

A number celebrities and actors have checked in on social media to share their concerns for their homes, neighbors and other residents affected by the wildfires.

Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed her family was safe in the morning on Jan. 8 and noted that her home may be on fire, and Mark Hamill wrote on Instagram that he and his wife Marilou had evacuated their Malibu home and were staying with his daughter Chelsea in Hollywood. Hamill, 73, described the situation as the "most horrific fires since '93."

Actors like Adrien Brody and Clark Gregg also shared photos from the fires to Instagram. "Sending prayers and gratitude to the brave first responders and to all of you affected by this devastating moment," Brody, 51, wrote in his post, while Gregg, 62, shared a photo of Los Angeles from the air. "Speechless," he wrote.
