Zac Efron Was Asked About Vanessa Hudgens’ Pregnancy, And His Reaction Is So Sweet
Zac Efron is sending love to his former High School Musical costars.
You’ll hardly need reminding that Zac got his big break starring as Troy Bolton in the hugely successful High School Musical movies, which came out in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
While working on the Disney Channel films and navigating skyrocketing fame, Zac developed special bonds with his co-stars, but none more so than Vanessa Hudgens, who played his love interest, Gabriella Montez.

Turning their onscreen romance into the real deal, Zac and Vanessa began dating while filming the first movie in 2005 and stayed together until 2010, when their breakup made headlines.
Fast-forward to today and Vanessa is married. In March this year, she revealed that she and her husband, MLB player Cole Tucker, are expecting their first child together.
A few weeks later, Zac and Vanessa’s former High School Musical co-star Ashley Tisdale, who played Sharpay Evans, announced that she was expecting her second child too, sending fans into a frenzy.
Ashley already shares a 3-year-old daughter, Jupiter, with her husband, Christopher French.
So, with two HSM babies on the way, Zac reacted to Ashely and Vanessa’s pregnancies at Thursday’s premiere of his new movie, A Family Affair, when a reporter asked how he expects his former co-stars to be as mothers.
“The fan favorite High School Musical kids are all grown up. We have Ashely Tisdale with a baby. We have Vanessa — How do you feel they’re gonna be as mothers? It’s so exciting,” an Access Hollywood interviewer asked on the red carpet.
In response, Zac looked genuinely pleased and said: “Oh, they’re going to be the best moms ever, those girls. Are you kidding me? Oh my gosh. Yeah, we’re going to have some fun family reunions coming up.”
If you can believe it, it’s nearly been 16 years since High School Musical 3 was released, and since then, we’ve not had a full IRL reunion with all the cast members. Notably, when the OG cast came together to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first film in 2016, Zac was the only person not to join — instead opting to send a video message to fans.
Inevitably, there was speculation that Zac’s absence at the reunion was related to Vanessa. However, it seems there’s no bad blood between the exes, who — based on what Vanessa last said — haven’t “seen or spoken” to each other in years.
In March, Ashley reacted to fans’ excitement that she and Vanessa are pregnant simultaneously, posting on her Instagram story that she thinks it’s “so cool” that they’re experiencing motherhood together.
“I'm so excited for her and this new chapter in her life,” Ashley wrote in response to a fan.
