X-rated Kmart toy leaves shoppers scandalised

Kmart has been delivering quite a few laughs of late with some unexpectedly X-rated products including a pair of 'camel toe' socks and an Easter decoration that contained a rather raunchy surprise.

Now, shoppers have been left scandalised (and in stitches) over a questionable-looking kids toy sold by the discount retailer.

'No going back'

Called the 'Mushy Poopster dough ball,' the brown, squishy cigar-shaped 'sensory play' toy for toddlers does what it says on the tin: it looks just like a poo. Aside from a pair of cartoon eyes, of course.

Not only does the 'Mushy Poopster' resemble something you'd find in the loo but, according to several Kmart fans, it's also reminiscent of something even more blush-inducing.

One such Kmart fan was mum-of-two Sonia, who just had to share a snap of the head-turning toy on Facebook after her partner compared it to a, well... you can figure it out.

"So I found this stress reliever in Kmart today," Sonia wrote.

"I thought it was a poop but then my partner told me to look at the veins. Once I saw what he saw there was no going back," she added.

'Mortified'

The toy's phallic nature wasn't lost on fellow Facebook users, who took to the comments section to agree with Sonia's partner's astute observation.

"Brought this for the kids on Thurs. Glad I wasn't the only one who picked up on it," one wrote.

"They didn't wanna make it too obvious so they took the balls off," pointed out another.

"My son in prep took his for show and tell, the teacher was mortified lol," admitted a third.

While most comments were PG-rated, one Facebook user came right out and called a spade a spade, as it were.

"That's totally a dick," they wrote.

The revelation made some parents question whether to buy the toy for their little ones.

"Don't think the kids will be getting these again," wrote one.

Another Facebook user wanted the Mushy Poopster off Kmart's shelves altogether.

"That is totally inappropriate and should be removed from the store. I’m not a fuddy duddy but that’s offensive," they wrote.

Sonia tells Yahoo Lifestyle that, after her post racked up over 500 comments and 1.6k comments, her eldest boy asked her to buy him a Mushy Poopster but, alas, her local Kmart was sold out.

"I guess my post made it fly off the shelves!" she joked.
