Seasoned judge Simon Cowell was lost for words on the live X Factor final after an emotional video saw him break down in tears.
The father-of-one couldn’t hold back his emotions after watching the video for the show's latest charity single, a cover of Snow Patrol's Run, with proceeds going to Together For Short Lives and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
“Both those charities very close to your heart, what do you want to say,” host Dermot O'Leary asked Simon.
But the 59-year-old couldn’t answer. Instead dropping his head and lifting his glasses to wipe his eyes.
Fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger moved across to comfort him, with Simon's girlfriend Lauren Silverman also running onto the judge's podium to give him a hug.
The crowd then started to applaud before the host moved things along.
Simon has been patron of the charity Together for Short Lives for a number of years, previously admitting that working with children’s hospices has hit him hard since having his son Eric.
“When I had Eric, when you have kids, then you look at it way more deeply than before. You go: ‘How the hell do you cope with it?’” he said on Loose Women.
Simon Cowell's X-Factor appearance shocks fans
Simon Cowell returned to British screens on X-Factor: Celebrity in October. But it wasn’t the performances that had Twitter lighting up.
Fans couldn’t help but revisit a well-trodden garden path - Simon’s ever-changing face. His new look was described as very ‘Hollywood’, sporting a sparkling new smile and slimmed-down figure.
Simon Cowell looks unrecognisable after 10kg weight loss
The 59-year-old wowed fans at the season 14 America’s Got Talent live show in Hollywood in August, looking completely different to the man who stood on the red carpet at the same event just one year before.
The judge cut a lean figure in a grey jumper and black trouser combination. A deep tan set off his sparkling white teeth, flashed in a relaxed smile, and the judge gave the camera a ‘thumbs up’ in a jovial display.
It was then reported that he had gone vegan after discovering a host of food allergies he was unaware of for most of his adult life and lost a whopping 10kg in the process.
