Woolworths and Coles shoppers outraged as popular item nearly doubles in price: 'Shop elsewhere'
Shoppers have been left furious at the rising price of Cadbury chocolate at supermarkets, calling out Coles and Woolies.
Aussies have been left shocked with the rising price of one of our favourite sweet, sweet treats, with a local shopper spotting that Cadbury blocks have gone up to a whopping $7 per 180g block at Woolworths. Taking to a popular podcast Facebook group, the shopper uploaded a photo of the chocolate aisle, showing a lot of our faves all retailing for the hefty new price. Coles has also upped the price of their Cadbury blocks to $7.
"Omg, blocks have gone up AGAIN!" the outraged shopper posted. "I’m aware that the price of cocoa has gone up in the market (I did a bit of a deep dive on this). However, this increase is still not warranted. How can Aldi/ Lidl and other companies not increase at this rate and sustain their business - think Lindt."
They went on to say they usually shop for discounts. "I usually always buy at half price but in the space of two years a block has gone from $4 to $7, that’s $2 half price to $3.50, which is wild. Also, it will not deter me but I'll be aware I am getting ripped off," they finished their post.
Aussies upset at rising cost of Cadbury chocolate: 'Blasphemy'
The Facebook post was populated with comments, with some crediting Cadbury for their rising prices by keeping their health in check, and others miserable at the rising cost.

"This is a hate crime against PMS," one person joked. "Thankfully at these insane prices my sugar binges have become a lot less," someone else commented. "BLASPHEMY!!!!!!" another person simply stated.
"That's hilarious! I literally won't buy it now even on sale coz the sale price is the usual price! Before the bar halved in thickness... good way to make everyone quit sugar at least!" one person pointed out.
Shopper's advice to fellow chocolate lovers
"The price rises are actually ridiculous. There is nothing substantiating the rise over the last few years apart from a money grab," one person ranted. "No one is stopping them. Coles and Woolworths did not suffer at all during Covid - they boomed! Yet their prices keep growing. Shop elsewhere. We go to the markets. The only way this will stop is if you take your dollars elsewhere."

"Next thing Woolworths will do a price 'drop'. Literally have seen them do this for so many other products. They put them up for a month or two, then do a drop to the price they were originally so you think you’re getting a better deal," someone else commented.
