Woman mortified by X-rated text from Airbnb host

We've all been guilty of leaving behind an item or two at an Airbnb, but one woman was left red-faced after she received a text from her host about her forgotten belonging.

Kristen Arnett spoke of the mortifying text exchange on Twitter, sharing an image of the photo and text messages sent to her by the host who discovered her raunchy object between the sheets.

"I am literally in tears," she said.

Sending Ms Arnett a photo of her sex toy, the host asked if she was still close by to retrieve it.

"Would you like me to put it outside on the bench? Then you can swing by," the host added.

Ms Arnett added the host also offered to keep it for them for their next stay.

"Five star service," she wrote.

In solidarity, people started sharing with Ms Arnett their own awkward sex toy experiences.

"I've had a loudly vibrating bag at baggage claim THREE TIMES," one said.

"And once had my bag inspected at Mexico customs while vibrating. Makes you stronger."

One told the story of how she had to leave a number of raunchy items on her bed as police needed them from crime scene photos.

"I had a burglary ... they had gone through my bedside drawer, taken all my sex toys ... dildos, vibrators, butt plugs etc laid them all out all over my bed," she said.

Another explained her dogs had a part to play in her own mortifying experience.

"Earlier today, my puppies apparently got into my room and grabbed one of my sex toys and brought it out in the living room where my parents were sitting," she said.

"The sheer embarrassment of that is haunting."
