Why Luke Combs Says the Birth of His Son Was 'One of the Worst Days' of His Life

Luke Combs is looking back on the day his wife gave birth to their second bundle of joy, but the day was actually filled with sadness for the country crooner.

While talking to Apple Music's Zane Lowe on Thursday, June 20, Luke, 34, opened up about missing the birth of his second son, Beau, which he called "really hard" to deal with.

"I haven't really told anybody that," he said while explaining that he was on tour in Sydney, Australia in August 2023 when his wife, Nicole Combs, delivered their son more than two weeks before her due date.

The "Beautiful Crazy" singer said that day was "one of the best and one of the worst days in [his] life," and he still finds it "hard to wrap [his] head around."

Combs went on to explain that he found out about his son's birth when he woke up on the other side of the world, getting visibly emotional as he told Zane, "I had a text from my wife and it said, 'I'm so sorry. I really tried to not have the baby while you were gone.'"

"God, it sucked," the singer continued, wiping away tears.

Fortunately, though, Luke said Beau "wasn't born yet" when his wife texted him, and that he was able to witness the birth virtually.

"God, it was a hard day, but I'm so lucky," he explained, noting that "a lot" of his closest friends were working on the road with him during the tour, including his high school best friend who now works as his personal assistant.

"So I had a really great support system," Luke added, calling the whole experience "surreal."

The birth of Luke and Nicole's son Beau last summer officially made them a family of four, as the married pair already share son Tex, who was born in June 2022.
