In the fantasy adaptation’s third season, Williams, Callum Kerr (Hollyoaks, Monarch), Luke Fetherston (Still Up, CBBC’s Almost Never) and Nuno Lopes (The New Look, Portugal’s A Fazenda) will round out the royal family of Andor — the largest, most populous, and most influential country within the heart of the Westlands.
The quartet of actors join the recently announced Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse), who in Season 3 will play one of the powerful Aes Sedai — Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan.
Williams (whose TV credits also include Dollhouse, The Crown and gone-too-soon Counterpart) will play Morgase Trakand, the Queen of Andor — though one who did not inherit her throne. Rather, when the succession was left without an heir, she waged a brutal war against a half-dozen noble rivals, and thanks to her political savvy and utter ruthlessness, she won. She has sworn ever since to shield her daughter and heir, Elayne (Ceara Coveney), from ever having to endure what she did.
Fetherston will play Lord Galad of House Trakand, a royal prince and brother to Gawyn and Elayne. A skilled fighter and “famously handsome,” Galad is protective of his younger sister.
Kerr will fill the role of Lord Gawyn of House Trakand, an older brother to Galad and Elayne. Despite being the first born, he is not the heir to the throne; Andor is a matriarchy, and so the role of heir falls to kid sis Elayne.
Lastly, Lopes will play Lord Gaebril, Queen Morgase’s (ahem) male consort, a lover and adviser who assists in overseeing matters political and military.
At the end of Wheel of Time Season 2, Rand (Josha Stradowski) after defeating Ishamael reunited with his friends at Falme and was declared the Dragon Reborn. But in Season 3, “the threats against the Light are multiplying,” the official synopsis tells us. “The White Tower stands divided, the Black Ajah run free, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken are in hot pursuit of the Dragon… including Lanfear (Natasha O’Keeffe), whose relationship with Rand will mark a crucial choice between Light and Dark for them both.”
