For special episodes of Saturday Night Live, Colin Jost and Michael Che swap jokes during the Weekend Update segment that lead to self-deprecating, NSFW, and sometimes wildly controversial moments designed to get each other in trouble. On Saturday, December 21, Jost and Che gifted each other with a lineup of jests they hadn't seen beforehand. Jost's actress wife, Scarlett Johansson, was in the building that night to appear in the show's opening monologue, so Che made sure to include some extra digs at their marriage.

While Jost read the jokes written by his co-host, the camera switched to a behind-the-scenes shot of Johansson watching a screen backstage. As he read the jokes, Johansson's live reaction was captured on camera.

“Hey boo, y’all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday,” Jost read off the cue cards through laughs. “Which means I’m about to get up out of there!”

The camera then cut to Johansson, who is seen laughing and shaking her head while watching backstage. Jost continued, “Nah, nah. I’m just playing. We just had a kid together, and y’all ain’t see no pictures of him yet ’cause he Black as hell.”

During a different part of the segment, Jost read another joke written by Che that took another swipe at Johansson. “Costco has removed their roast beef sandwich from their menu,” Jost said nervously. “But I ain’t tripping, I be eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid." As Jost laughed and buried his face in his hands, Johansson's jaw dropped before she said, "Oh my god!"

Jost and Johansson first met back in 2006 on the set of SNL, so it makes sense that the actress is such a good sport about all the jokes she's been in over the years. In 2017, the two even hard-launched their relationship on the show.

Then, in 2019, Johansson's publicist, Marcel Pariseau, confirmed that the two were engaged. Later that year, Johansson hosted the comedy sketch show again and gave Jost a sweet shoutout during her monologue. "This place means so much to me," she said at the time. "I have so many friends here and I met the love of my life here." They officially tied the knot in 2020 and welcomed their son, Cosmo, in August 2021.
