What's leaving Netflix in January 2025: “Cats”, “White Chicks”, “Jigsaw,” and more films and TV shows

Plus, say goodbye to all five seasons of "New Amsterdam" and all eight seasons of "Monk."

At the dawn of the new year, it's out with the old, in with the new — even for Netflix.

As the streamer adds a bunch of content to its platform this month — including XO Kitty season 2, and fan favorite films 13 Going on 30 and Inception — it's also ditching several titles.

Netflix chose — ahem — violence when it came to horror films in January, cutting 2017's Saw franchise entry Jigsaw, 2014 indie darling The Babadook, and Dave Franco's 2020 directorial debut The Rental from its offerings. Depending on your definition of horror, Cats could also be added to that list. That fever-dream adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, featuring some of Hollywood's biggest names prancing about as feline but also weirdly humanoid sleep paralysis demons, leaves Netflix Jan. 15. Get your fill of nightmare fuel while you can.

Then, if you need to chase all of that down with a laugh, be sure to catch White Chicks, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, We're the Millers, or Not Another Teen Movie before they depart the streamer. (Cats would also work here.)

Or, if you're feeling the awards season spirit, there's Oscar players you can sink your teeth into one last time. Martin Luther King Jr. drama Selma, which was nominated for Best Picture and won Best Original Song at the 87th Academy Awards, leaves Netflix on Jan. 15. Meanwhile, political thriller Zero Dark Thirty, which was nominated for five Oscars at the 85th Academy Awards, winning one for Best Sound Editing, leaves at the end of the month. Whitney, a 2018 documentary about the late Whitney Houston that was nominated at the 61st Grammy Awards for Best Music Film, also departs on Jan. 31, a few days shy of this year's awards ceremony.

On the series side, four shows are also getting the axe. Fans of Last Tango in Halifax, The Magicians, Monk and/or New Amsterdam need to get your binge-watching (or re-watching) finished up soon, as all four will be leaving the platform around mid-month.
