“It’s incredibly rewarding to see the continued growth of this platform, showcasing incredible BIPOC talent from around the world including new Asian and African designers,” said creative director Áwet Woldegebriel.
The curated selection includes Áwet New York as well. Áwet New York is a New York-city luxury brand for men and women founded by Woldegebriel, a refugee from Eritrea, and is inspired by his homeland’s tailoring heritage.
“We’re building a truly global hub for luxury and we are immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together,” said Alex St. Urbain, chief marketing officer.
The participating brands span ready-to-wear, accessories, footwear and jewelry. Some of the featured brands are Onalaga, a luxury womenswear brand known for its blend of Nigerian heritage and contemporary Italian design; Lilith NY, a global luxury footwear brand; Oleada, a handbag brand, and Esenshel, a contemporary hat brand.
The Áwet New York New York Fashion Week showroom is open to buyers, press and industry professionals by appointment only. Appointments can be made through Dominique Reynolds at dominique@awetnyc.com.
