The Wanted’s Max George is reaching out for advice after he began experiencing a “flicking feeling” in his chest following heart surgery.

The “Glad You Came” singer, who recently had a pacemaker put in after having heart issues, described the strange sensation and asked fans if they’d ever experienced anything like it before in an Instagram video posted earlier this week.

“A question for those of you that have been in touch that have had a pacemaker done: I’m in the hospital tomorrow for another check up because I’ve been getting this flicking feeling in the lefthand side of my chest,” George, 36, explained. “I’m actually getting it now.”

He continued, “I was wondering if you guys maybe knew what it might be or if you’ve experienced it yourself, because the doctors aren’t too sure. Maybe it’s touching a nerve and it’ll go away in time, or they might have to move the wire slightly, but I’m all ears because all I’m doing at the moment is doing research because I know nothing about pacemakers. This came completely out of the blue. Any information I could get would be much appreciated.”

A collection of fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts on what could be the potential cause of the condition. “Hi Max - my mum is a nurse and I just asked her. She said it’s just the battery from the pacemaker regulating your heartbeat, as most of the comments have said,” one fan wrote. “However, it’s good you’re getting the doctors to check it out for you. Hoping everything goes well tomorrow.”

Another added, “Sounds and looks like it’s doing a great job Max! Definitely get the doctor’s advice tomorrow to be on the safe side! You’re also looking a lot better and looking well.”

On Dec. 12, George announced in an Instagram post that doctors had uncovered he had “some issues with my heart” after he fell ill and was taken to the hospital. He provided another health update nine days later, revealing that he’d had a pacemaker put in, calling it “the best Christmas present I could have ever wished for.”

He added, “Operation took around 2 and half hours. The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go… But the hospital surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them.”

George also noted that the surgeon placed the pacemaker “underneath a very special tattoo of mine.” The ink, which is visible in the accompanying photo, is the birth date of his late Wanted bandmate Tom Parker, who died from brain cancer at 33 in 2022. He added, “So I’m sure it’s being looked after.”

As The Wanted, George, Parker, and bandmates Siva Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes, and Jay McGuinness released a bevy of hits including “Chasing The Sun,” “Lose My Mind,” and “Lightning” before going on an indefinite hiatus in 2014. The British-Irish boy band reunited in 2021 following Parker’s cancer diagnosis, releasing a greatest hits album and embarking on a U.K. tour together.

After Parker’s death, they released a new version of their song "Gold Forever" as a tribute to their bandmate, titled “Gold Forever (For Tom),” in 2022.
