The Voice contestant shocks judges with rant following elimination
A contestant on The Voice has hit back at the judges following her elimination, shocking the show's judges and fans alike.
Soma Sutton competed against Stephanie Cole on Tuesday night, but with only one singer being able to go through to the next round, Guy Sebastian chose Stephanie.
Soma then came out with an explosive rant, saying she "didn't even really want to come on the show in the first place".
Before her performance, Soma revealed she struggles with anxiety due to "traumatic experiences" in her past.
Guy told her after her performance: "Soma, I feel like I’ve unlocked something that you need to work on but you need time to work on it. But I just don’t think this particular time in your life on this particular show is right for you right now."
This is when the visibly upset singer slammed the show.
"OK, well, the thing about that is that I didn’t really want to come on the show in the first place,” she said. “I was convinced to come here, to be here, to stand here and do this in front of you. And, like, it is disheartening."
"Your advice that you guys give, is that genuine?" Soma did not hold back 😲 #TheVoiceAU pic.twitter.com/AeoCdqkpBQ

Tearing up, she asked, "Your advice that you guys all give, it’s like, is that genuine? I would just like to know, you know, what you really think. Do I actually have what it takes to be a musician?"
Clearly taken aback, Guy and fellow judge Delta Goodrem appeared visibly shocked.
Kelly Rowland, appearing by video chat, was the first to address Soma's concerns. First, she suggested the singer take a deep breath.
She then continued, "No one’s going to waste their time and just tell you something because it sounds good."
Soma said, "I think just the disheartening thing about it is that you don't have enough time to get to know me, you don't know why I'm in my shell."
However, Guy said it was up to her to show them who she really is, "We can only dive in to our artists as much as they let us dive in. So, if you don’t tell me what stops you from being the artist you need to be, what can I do?"
"I think you’ve got something very special but you have to trust and you have to deal with the things that are holding you back," he added.
Fans were quick to slam Soma, taking to Twitter to share their opinion on the rant.
One fan wrote: "Soma Sutton on #TheVoiceAU tonight was insolent. I would've thought a bit of respect for the coach that saved you during the battle rounds would've been appropriate. Should've thanked Guy rather than questioning the coaches sincerity. The Voice coaches always say what they think."
Another said: "Can’t believe she just said that #TheVoiceAU."
"Soma, as if you’d say 'I don’t even want to be here' when there are so many people that would kill to be where you are.... Next time just stay home,” another person wrote.

i feel like soma’s ramble was less of an attack and more of her insecurities coming out. you could see her tearing up when asking if she was good enough - she has a unique and you can imagine the mixed reviews she would have had from that. #thevoiceau

However, some fans took Soma's side. "I feel like Soma’s ramble was less of an attack and more of her insecurities coming out. you could see her tearing up when asking if she was good enough - she has a unique and you can imagine the mixed reviews she would have had from that," one person wrote.
Another added: “I love the fact that people are calling Soma 'Karen' and sh*t talking her when she’s the first person in the history of #TheVoiceAU to say something remotely truthful."
"Go Soma! The advice is not really genuine. The #thevoiceau show decides who go into the next rounds based on who they think will make the most money for them. Looks like Soma was headhunted & promises were made to get her on the show. There's always an agenda with TV shows,” another person agreed.

While Guy had the chance to keep Soma with his Wildcard, he decided to choose Matt Gresham instead.
