VMAs 2024: Taylor Swift Honors 9/11 Victims in Emotional Victory Speech — See Full List of Winners
One of the biggest nights in music (and space travel) has come and gone once again, as dozens of Moon Persons were handed out at the 2024 Video Music Awards.
Heading into Wednesday’s ceremony, Taylor Swift led the pack (shocker!) with a total of 12 nominations, followed by Post Malone with 11 (nine of which were for his collaboration with Swift on “Fortnight”). Next up is Eminem with eight, followed by Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion and Sabrina Carpenter with seven each, and SZA with six.

One of the most memorable acceptance speeches came from Swift, who used her first win of the night (of many) to honor the victims of 9/11: “Waking up this morning in New York on September 11, I’ve just been thinking about what happened 23 years ago, everyone who lost a loved one and everyone that we lost,” she said. “That is the most important thing about today, and everything that happens tonight falls behind that.”
This year’s VMAs also included two brand-new categories, Most Iconic VMAs Performance and Best Trending Video. The former acknowledges the most unforgettable performances from previous VMAs, while the latter highlights what MTV viewers are vibing with now.
The biggest categories of the night were announced during MTV’s live broadcast of the Stallion-hosted event, which was held at Long Island’s UBS Arena.
Read on for a full breakdown of this year’s nominees, with winners marked in bold as they’re announced throughout the night. Once you’ve soaked in the results, drop a comment with your thoughts below. Did the statues go to the right artists this year?
