Tasmania is famous for its rugged coastlines, sweeping greenery and world-class food and wine scene, but it's also fast becoming a bucket list spot for travellers who are eager to experience its abundance of unforgettable camping experiences, too. Whether you fancy parking at the spectacular Bay of Fires (which was recently named Australia's best beach) or are more inclined to set up shop in the mountains, you'll surely find somewhere in Tassie to fit the bill.

For Aussie couple, Harrison Miller & Lauren Witherow (Haz and Loz), who are living the dream of travelling full-time, one Tasmanian campsite has earned a special place in their heart. In fact, the well-travelled pair - who run The Barefoot Bucketlist - told Yahoo Lifestyle that this particular spot is their favourite free camp in Australia.

"We had seen it on Instagram and knew we had to stay there," the couple said of Lake Roseberry in the state's West Coast Range. "There are very few free camps in Australia that have such epic views. We were only able to stay one night because of our schedule, but it was enough to appreciate it."

Haz and Loz shared those epic views on their social media - to an overwhelming response.

In the video, which quickly went viral, Haz can be seen getting a campfire going as the glass-like water perfectly reflects the surrounding mountain ranges. It's a jaw-dropping sight and one that led to endless pleas for the location to be shared.

"Yes and no," Haz and Loz replied when asked if they were surprised by the response to their video. "It’s such a beautiful spot, and the fact it’s free makes it very appealing to people, but we still didn’t expect it to get the exposure it did."

Brisbane woman and solo traveller Sarah Rose Foster, who also stayed for one night at the campsite, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she would go back in a heartbeat.

"Absolutely," she says. "The serenity of this location, combined with nearby attractions such as Montezuma Falls, makes it a place I would return to without hesitation."

She adds that the spot is so appealing thanks to it being free, having direct lake access and, of course, the "breathtaking sunset views."

For anyone now inspired to add Lake Roseberry to their bucket list, Sarah says that "access is relatively easy."

"While it is located in Tasmania’s remote west coast range, where phone reception is minimal and amenities are scarce, the drive itself is straightforward," she says.

And while those views are certainly what makes the campsite unique, Haz and Loz caution travellers that you need to get there early if you want the best seats in the house.

"There are a couple of sites, but one in particular has ‘the’ view," they explain. "If you want that spot, be sure to arrive early because it’s a free camp you can’t book."

Sarah agrees, adding, "Arriving early is essential, as this campsite is incredibly popular despite its remote location. I was fortunate to secure one of the two lakeside spots, while the remaining sites are set back in the car park with less space to spread out. If you’re hoping for a prime spot by the water, plan accordingly."

Other campers have likewise shared their appreciation for the ultra-special place, with one enthusing that they had "never seen water having that mirror effect more than at Lake Rosebery" and another loving the sunsets and the fact it is dog-friendly.

The sunset, unsurprisingly, was something that Loz and Haz recall fondly, too.

"Watching the sunset with the fire crackling was definitely the highlight [of our stay]," they said.

If you are looking for a luxurious campsite with all of the mod-cons, Lake Roseberry is not for you. There are no amenities at the site, and a recent oil spill means that swimming and boating are currently prohibited in the lake.

Instead, the couple encourages travellers to "just relax and have a fire."

Haz and Loz also encourage travellers to do something - and that is to leave no trace when you visit this oh-so-special site.

"Just want to reiterate the leave no trace message, the couple says. "We’ve travelled around Australia, and this is our favourite free camp, so keep it clean so that others can continue to enjoy it."
