Yahoo Lifestyle Trader Joe's Fan-Favorite Limited-Edition Mystery Bags Are Back and Shoppers Are Buying 5 at a Time
As a lifelong Nancy Drew fan, I love a good mystery! The thrill of uncovering hidden secrets is almost second nature to me, so it’s no wonder that I also love mystery boxes. Just like a detective searching for answers, opening a mystery box and not knowing what treasures lie inside is very exciting. Whether it’s a themed gift box or a subscription with surprises, a mystery box is as close to a real-life mystery as most of us get, and it helps to keep my inner Nancy Drew alive.
I was recently scrolling the Internet, looking for some fun mystery boxes and I ran across a fan-favorite item at Trader Joe’s, of all places. I can't wait to get my hands on one—if they don't sell out before I get there.
Fans of the grocery chain love everything about the stores—the layout, the products and the customer service—but Trader Joe's has viral pops from time to time. Remember the mini tote bags that everyone had to have? The bags sold out in many locations and resellers were making a pretty penny selling them on sites like eBay.
As of just a few days ago, there's a new Trader Joe's bag causing a stir. The store just brought back its seriously popular Mystery Bags, and fans are lining up to get theirs. Some people have taken to Reddit to say they're buying three and five at a time. "Got 5 packs and no duplicates! 😁 I use them in place of gift bags for Xmas. Can’t beat the price!" said one happy customer.
If you're new to TJ's Mystery Bags, each pack contains three reusable bags with designs featuring places throughout the United States, and each three-pack only costs $3 (aka $1 a bag). Some of the bags feature specific cities or general areas, and some feature states. You never know which bags you'll get, but the goal is to collect as many different ones as you can.

She bought three separate mystery bag packs, so she got nine bags in all. In her first mystery pack, there was a bag for Boston, one for Utah and a third for Delaware. Each had its own unique design that showcased popular items from the area it represented. For example, the Boston bag had a crab and the Utah bag had Jell-O.
She ended up with another Utah and Delaware bag on the second pack, but she also got a rare corn bag that featured a can of corn on it. The third pack contained bags for Arizona, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
"I have the Boston one bc I'm from here! It's a very good-looking bag," someone commented on her video.
"I love these… definitely gonna look for them when I go next time," another person said.
I am heading out to Trader Joe's for a few packs of these mystery bags and I can't wait to see what I get!
