Today's Sarah Abo walks off set and slams Karl Stefanovic after prank: 'Dead to me'

"I hate you! I hate you forever!"

Today Show host Sarah Abo walked off the set on Friday after Karl Stefanovic and the team decided to prank her with a fake news story.

During the show, Karl pretended as though some breaking news had come in, telling the viewers, "We are getting some breaking news out of the United States – former US President Barack Obama – we're just waiting to verify this at this point – but we're hearing that former US President Barack Obama has been arrested, and it may be on historic charges, related to when he was in the White House, so pretty significant..."

"Wow," was all Sarah could say, clearly in shock by the 'news' Karl was getting fed to him, however, the presenter didn't last long and began laughing, revealing the story was actually fake.

"Oh, don't!" Sarah said, hitting his arm as he began hysterically laughing. "Oh my God!"

"I couldn't hold it!" Karl said, still laughing.

"What just happened?" Alex Cullen questioned, also thinking the story was true.

"That's it!" Sarah yelled at Karl, adding, "I'm out! I'm done, I'm all done!"

"That's the first time ever I couldn't hold it!" Karl said.

"I hate you! I hate you forever!" Sarah shot back at him. "I even had a Christmas present for you and you're not getting it anymore!"

"I had a whole spiel ready!" he yelled back.

"See ya Karl, have a good life, you're dead to me!" she responded.

Fans shared their thoughts on social media, with one user writing, "Had me, I was scrambling to find the TV control to put on the news."

"You had me! I was in shock!" another said.

"So funny. I wished Karl had finished it," someone else said.

"Lol sooo good, your laugh at the end had me in tears," yet another fan said.

Though others didn't agree, with one user writing, "How is that even remotely funny?"

"What a fool, not funny," another said.

"No wonder he has that job! People’s comments in the positive just astound me," a third added.
