Thomas Markle slams Meghan and Harry: 'I'd take him on!'

Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, has slammed her claims she wasn't well off when she was younger and called her husband Prince Harry a 'candyass' for quitting the royal family.

The Duchess of Sussex wrote a letter to US politicians and attempted to highlight her humble roots in October, saying she "grew up on the $4.99 salad bar" at Sizzler.

However, Thomas has blasted her claims, telling The Sun, "She’s never, ever, ever had to worry about anything like that in her life."

The former TV lighting director added that they would eat at the "best restaurants in town" and would go to Sizzler because "it was convenient".

"We never had to rub our pennies together and just have the salad bar. She had the salad bar — but she had a meal as well," he said.

Thomas added that he doesn't believe Meghan should be calling herself a Duchess, saying it's "totally wrong".

He then took aim at Harry, saying it wasn't right for him to walk away from his royal responsibilities, his grandmother and the British people.

"He’s a candyass. I’d take him on at my age any time. He’d run away from me," Thomas said.

He also shared how upset he is at the fact he can't share the letter Meghan sent him before her wedding to Harry in 2018 after the Court of Appeal said publishing the letter breached Meghan's privacy.

Thomas said that he is considering reading the letter on YouTube, adding that while he loves his daughter, he hates what she has become.

It comes after Thomas claimed last month Meghan should lose her title after "she made a complete fool of herself" during a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show, adding that she "should lose her title".

Meghan and Harry have had quite the year after a number of bombshell interviews created quite the divide between them and the royal family.

While the Sussex family was invited by the Queen to celebrate Christmas at Sandringham, they turned it down to "avoid a media frenzy", Page Six reports.

"There's a lot that goes into the logistics and the planning of the family Christmas, so of course, staff know that Harry and Meghan are not coming," the source revealed. "If they were, they would have communicated it to their family by now."

Harry and Meghan have not spent the festive season in the UK since 2018 and will instead remain at home in Montecito, California for the holidays. This Christmas will be the Queen's first following the death of her husband, Prince Philip earlier this year.
