The Wiggles star announces pregnancy with twin girls: 'Two little miracles'

The Wiggles star Caterina Mete has shared some very exciting news with her followers and announced that she is pregnant with twin girls.

The Red Wiggle, 43, who has been performing with the band since 2003 but officially became a supporting member in 2022, posted a video on Instagram on Tuesday morning opening up about her journey to motherhood.

“I’m due later in the year, but I wanted to share this news with you now as I’ll be seeing many of you at the upcoming Wiggles shows, and as you can see, my girls are already starting to make an appearance,” she said in the video.

“My two little miracles are the result of a long journey through IVF and an anonymous donor from my fertility clinic. I’m so excited for the adventure ahead, and I can’t wait to be a mum.

“I look forward to sharing more with you as I continue on this incredible journey.”

The Wiggles share their support

Caterina’s post was quickly flooded with congratulatory messages from the other members of The Wiggles, with Blue Wiggle Anthony Field writing: “Absolutely delighted by your amazing news! Your Wiggles family is with you on this magical journey.”

“Big congratulations Caterina! I have no doubt you'll be an incredible mum. Can't wait to share in all the love and joy your little ones will bring to our Wiggles family!” Yellow Wiggle Tsehay Hawkins shared, followed by Purple Wiggle Lachy Gillespie who said, “Double happy!!!! Congratulations Caterina on such fantastic news. Love from all of us!!!”.

“Congratulations Caterina on your beautiful news! Looks like there will be a couple more red Wiggles to join us all! Can’t wait to meet them!” Red Wiggle Simon Pryce commented.

“Hearing about your pregnancy has brought so much joy to us all,” Purple Wiggle John Pearce replied. “You’re going to bring so much love and happiness to your twin girl’s lives. Looking forward to the beautiful songs we'll sing and dance to with the newest Wiggles!”

Blue Wiggle Lucia Field remarked that Caterina’s twins “are already so loved by the Wiggly family”, while Yellow Wiggle Evie Ferris added, “Your warmth and kindness will make the world a wonderful place for your little ones”.

Who is Caterina Mete?

Caterina has been with the Wiggles for over 20 years, first performing as Dorothy the Dinosaur before becoming the group’s choreographer.

Following Emma Watkins' departure as the Yellow Wiggle at the end of 2021, there was a group reshuffle and Caterina became an official Red Wiggle the following year.

She began dancing at age seven with tap, jazz and ballroom dancing and was previously a cheerleader for the Melbourne Storm.
