The truth about Georgie Gardner's TV absence amid Channel Nine 'investigation'

Rumours started circulating this weekend that Georgie Gardner’s future at Channel Nine may be "uncertain" after she was noticeably absent from her usual Friday night news bulletin. It comes following reports she is being "investigated" by the network.

According to Daily Mail, the network recently launched an internal probe into an alleged complaint against the TV veteran following a "clash" with a young staffer over an on-air script.

The publication claims the newsreader "blew up" at the staffer on August 31 as "she didn't think the rundown was satisfactory or the way the intros [to news stories] were written – and basically said it was s**t".

After the alleged incident caused a media storm last week, Georgie was replaced in her usual Friday night news bullet by Mark Burrows, which led to speculation that she may have been taken off air by bosses.

TV insider reveals rumours are 'baseless'

However, a TV insider tells Yahoo Lifestyle that these rumours are “baseless” and the star booked Friday, September 27 off work “months ago” for a family event and her absence was “completely unrelated” to the incident with the junior staffer.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, Georgie shared a sweet tribute to her son Gus and revealed she spent the Friday night attending his high school graduation. She then returned to hosting the news on Saturday night.

In her post, Georgie wrote, "While I might have lost the battle for height, I’m a winner when it comes to the pride and joy I have right now!! School done, a graduation ceremony tonight, a few little exams to sit & then off he soars into the big wide world! Congrats Gus, so incredibly excited for you, love you to the moon & back xx."
