The Project's Tommy Little reveals surprising career move: 'Good luck!'

He’s a successful comedian, radio presenter and TV host, but Tommy Little is venturing out into a very different career field.

The Project star, who has appeared on the news program since 2014, took to social media this week to share that he is currently studying for his pilot’s exam.

Tommy posted a gallery of photos on Wednesday proving his intense study habits, followed by several selfies looking confused.

“After failing my first attempt I’ve got my second crack at my pilot’s exam tomorrow and as you can see if you swipe, I’m feeling pre-tty confident,” he captioned the snaps.

The 36-year-old has spent the past year training to get his pilot’s licence in the hopes of flying solo around Australia, and it’s all being filmed for an upcoming documentary titled Any Fool Can Fly.

Tommy has been regularly documenting his progress with his fans online, including in May when he revealed that he had managed to complete his first solo flight.

His followers have also been sharing their words of encouragement in the comments of his posts ahead of his second aviation theory exam.

“Good luck, you’ve got this!” one person wrote, followed by another who said, “I’m sure you will pass with flying colours”.

“Absolute champion for not giving up!” someone else remarked, while a fourth shared, “Fingers crossed for you!”

“Smash it weapon. In my experience, it’s never luck but hard work, preparation and being naturally very good looking that have got me my goals,” comedian Merrick Watts replied.

“Do what you can do - Double down now on the hard work and preparation! You got this bro.”

Meanwhile, his Carrie and Tommy radio co-host, Carrie Bickmore, was slightly less supportive of his endeavours.

“Even if you pass… I am never flying with you!” she wrote.

Tommy’s social media post comes shortly after Channel Ten was forced to shut down rumours that his co-hosts on The Project, Lisa Wilkinson and Carrie Bickmore, may be taking pay cuts due to low ratings.

In a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle, a Network 10 spokesperson said: “This claim is nonsense.

The Project has just celebrated its 12th birthday and is here to stay! At a time when information, context and understanding is more important than ever, The Project will continue to provide Australians with their dose of news delivered differently.”
