Carrie Bickmore's gross find in daughter's kindy lunch box

Carrie Bickmore has shared a relatable parenting moment and her fans are loving her for it.

The 38-year-old The Project host, who just returned to her high-profile job after taking seven months maternity leave, took to her Instagram to upload a photo of her three-year-old daughter, Evie’s, lunch box.

“Kinder is back this week yay. And what a delightful present to find in school bag left over from last term,” Carrie wrote.

The photo shows a mouldy sandwich, along with an uneaten sliced apple, cherry tomatoes stewing in their own juice and a selection of nuts.

Many of Carrie’s 638,000 followers totally related to the mum-of-three’s post, saying they’re glad they’re not the only ones faced with the grim surprise this morning.

“Seeing this picture makes me feel not soo bad when I forget to unpack my daughters lunch box, glad I’m not the only mum to forget things,” one person wrote.

“Oh god the juice in the tomato section hahaha! Totally been there,” another said.

“Gahhh the same thing happened to me this morning. I binned the whole thing and he went to school with the old school brown lunch bag,” one mum said.

Before taking her seat back on The Project panel, Carrie admitted that she had ‘mixed emotions’ about returning, after taking the last seven months off to spend time with her new baby and her family.

But Carrie, who gave birth to her adorable daughter, Adelaide, in December, did admit to looking forward to being able to “get a coffee and being able to drink it before it gets cold, and for the silence of a 20-minute ride into work”, as she revealed in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald.

"But I'll be really honest, I have huge mixed emotions about it,” she continued.

“Just being able to have dinner with my family has been incredible. I haven't had that for 10 years, you know?"

Carrie has been very candid about life juggling a newborn and her two older kids, Ollie, 11 and Evie, three.

In an Instagram post in January, just one month after welcoming Adelaide, The Project host went through a checklist of things she’d experienced and unsurprisingly, sleep wasn’t one of them.

She listed arguments, feeling overwhelmed, mastitis and plenty of tears, as well as her “struggle with existing three-year-old” among some of the more difficult things she’s had to negotiate.

But of course “cuddles” and “bursting with love and gratitude” also made the cut.

Less than three months after giving birth to Adelaide, Carrie returned to her job on the Hit Network with Tommy Little.
