The Masked Singer Australia: All the celebs rumoured to be on the show

With The Masked Singer starting filming at Carriageworks in Sydney just before the city went into lockdown, there have already had to be a lot of changes to how it was filmed this year.

The live studio audience is out the window but virtual audiences were recruited in early July to make sure that the show still has all the fun and buzz of the original.

The masks this year look fantastic with a host of new characters including a cupie doll Baby, a Piñata, a Kebab, a Mullet fish, a Vampire and Atlantis.

But of course the question on everyone's lips is just who is behind the mask?

"I've been told by the producers that there is more international stars on the show this year," Dave Hughes told Daily Mail Australia.

One person that matches that description is actually our very own Tammin Sursok. The actress originally known for playing Dani on Home and Away, has been based in the US for the last 15 years and played a pivotal role in the teen mystery Pretty Little Liars.

However the star is back in Australia as fans noticed her documenting her quarantine with her two young daughters, Phoenix, seven and Lennon, two.

"I’m so grateful to be 'home' again. And shooting in Australia!" Tammin said on Insta. "I can’t wait to show you this character on your screens and I’m just savoring each moment in gratitude."

While she admits that she is back in Australia for work, she has said on her Instagram that it is for a movie – but perhaps she snuck in another gig as a masked singer as well.

In case you'd forgotten, Tammin left Home and Away at 21 to pursue a career in music. She signed with Sony BMG and her album Whatever Will Be came out in 2004. Her single Pointless Relationship went platinum in Australia and her style in described as power poop - something to look out for in one of the characters perhaps!

Another celebrity that has been 'spotted' in hotel quarantine via their social media accounts in UK reality TV star Charlotte Crosby. The Geordie Shore personality isn't shy at coming forward and used her time in quarantine to post risque pictures and plug sponsored posts.

Charlotte stunned some of her fans during UK lockdown last year as she shared a clip of herself singing Adele's Rolling In The Deep on her Insta stories and they were impressed with the results.

However Charlotte seemed to dash the rumours of her being on the show after saying on social media that she never made it out of isolation. "I went to Australia just to quarantine and then came home," Charlotte explained on Instagram. "I went to Australia for work which got cancelled because Sydney went into lockdown so I had to come home."

However we wouldn't put it past Network 10 and the show to be tricksy just to put us off the scent of who the singers could be!

Australian model Cheyenne Tozzi almost seems like a safe bet to compete in the show after she was seen driving out of Carriageworks during the filming schedule.

While she may be better known as a model she also has a musical background and reminded her fans of this back in May by posting video of her singing captioning the video "Little ruff (sic)" on the Instagram post - perhaps she was practising for a reason?

But could this also be a decoy as her older sister, actress Tahyna MacManus, is also a singer...

The Bachelor's Abbie Chatfield has become very popular since appearing on the show in 2019 and even won I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here. So it is understandable that she could also be popular once revealed on The Masked Singer.

And she has flamed the rumours by letting her followers know that she has moved to Sydney and by some of the her captions to her singing and lipsincing videos she's shared on Insta.

"Rehearsal for our karaoke debut must go on, even in lockdown,"she said on one post as she had just moved to Sydney. "Any tips from choreographers appreciated. Let’s make this a performance you can’t forget!!!!!!"

She definitely doesn't want us to count her out!

Fans of radio DJ Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli think that the deep, dulcet tones of the Piñata sound just like him.

"I don't know why there was a link being made to me being a Piñata... but I can't talk about it," the radio presenter said on air.

Meanwhile Wippa and his Nova co-host Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald Wippa decided to take some guesses as to who the other celebrities could be based on the number of international stars currently in Australia, an idea backed by Masked Singer judge Dave Hughes.

'Obviously with this Covid-era Australia has become a sanctuary for international superstars and apparently we've got a number of them on the show, so God knows who's going to be behind the mask,' Dave told Daily Mail Australia.

"Could it be that Matt Damon is The Kebab?" Wippa suggested on air. "[Or] Sasha Baron Cohen as a kebab?" They even debated whether Natalie Portman took part before she left the country!

And even Zac Efron is rumoured to have flown back to Australia recently. Thankfully it's not long to wait now...

The Masked Singer Australia is coming soon to 10 and 10 Play On Demand.
