The Block fans fuming over 'absolutely awful' house reveals

"These are absolutely awful."

For the first time ever, The Block has revealed exactly what the five houses will look like once they're completed, leaving both the contestants and viewers in shock.

The five couples will be transforming 1950s post-war houses on Charming Street in Melbourne's Hampton East, with fans sharing their thoughts on the renders of the houses on social media.

"How they start v How they will be..." a post on The Block's Instagram account read, alongside photos of the houses.

Fans were clearly unimpressed, with one user writing, "Time for new architects... these are absolutely awful."

"Taking a house with all the potential in the world and making them look like modern bric-a-brac shipping containers with nonsensical design features," another added. "Bring Chip and Joanna from Fixer Upper to The Block to show them how it’s done."

"They look soooo much nicer before," a third said.

"Why not keep the historical charm and turn them into cute cottages!?" someone else said. "Why [do] they have to be like boxes? They didn’t even get to choose their own design."

"Such a shame!" another added. "Oh well, no need to watch now!"

Others shared that they thought House 4 was the best one, with one user writing, "Number 4 is the only one that actually looks a bit like a home with a tiny bit of character. The rest is just awful!! Goes to show, money cannot buy taste."

"I’m in love with House 4," another said. "That looks the most pleasing to the neighbourhood and looks like it will fit in. The others I’m not quite into as they for sure look out of place. I understand that it’s the block, but to have these features and doesn’t fit in with the area is a bit extreme. All could change only episode 1."

Some fans enjoyed seeing what the houses will look like, with one fan saying, "I was happy to see a sneak preview!"

Many also compared the houses to shopping centres and described the designs as "disappointing".
