Homedics White Noise Sound Machine, $133.22

If you're a light sleeper and wake to every creak, a white noise machine can provide a background noise to drown out sudden sounds.

This machine has six relaxing nature sounds, including a white noise, thunder, the ocean, rain, summer night and a babbling brook.

There's also a timer so you can set it to switch off if you want, or leave it running all night.
