Taron Egerton may play larger-than-life characters on-screen, but off it, he tends to stays out of the public eye — including while spending time with his rumored girlfriend, Chloe Bennet.

In a rare moment, the Carry-On actor was spotted walking hand-in-hand with the actress in December 2024 in New York City. Their reps didn’t respond to requests for comments, and it was the first time they had been linked as a potential couple.

Egerton’s last known girlfriend was Emily Thomas, whom he dated until 2022. While the Kingsman star doesn’t speak much about his relationships, he did tell Andy Cohen in a 2022 interview on Radio Andy that he was single and looking for someone “quite attractive and funny.”

Bennet, best known for her roles in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Lil Dicky’s comedy Dave, most recently dated Riverdale’s Charles Melton in 2023. In their work lives, both Egerton and Bennet are staying busy — she starred in Hulu’s miniseries Interior Chinatown alongside Jimmy O. Yang in the fall of 2024, while he took the lead role in Netflix's holiday thriller Carry-On.

She’s from Chicago

Bennet was born in 1992 in Chicago and is the only girl of six brothers. She described growing up with three biological brothers, two foster brothers and one adopted brother as a “frat house mixed with the United Nations.”

“Two (of my brothers) are black and one is Mexican and Filipino, and then I am half-Chinese,” she told the Chicago Tribune in 2013. “We used to wrestle and do that kind of stuff and I was just a tomboy. And I really got into the arts because I tried every sport and was just terrible, so I was like, the only thing for me to do is be creative.”

She’s an actress

Throughout her decade-long career, Bennet has appeared in shows like Nashville and Dave and films like Valley Girl. But she’s probably best known for solving supernatural crimes as Daisy “Skye” Johnson on the ABC Marvel show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which ran for seven seasons until 2020.

The actress told the Chicago Reader in 2016 that Skye was the kind of role that would make her younger self proud. “I never dreamt of being a princess, I wanted to be a superhero," Bennet said.

Most recently, the Teen Choice Award nominee starred in Interior Chinatown, a 2024 Hulu miniseries about a background actor who witnesses a crime while on set. Deadline confirmed in September 2024 that she is also starring alongside Ted Lasso’s Phil Dunster in the upcoming Area 51-inspired indie flick Hello Out There.

Her professional last name honors her father

Bennet is Chinese-American and was born Chloe Wang. She told NPR in 2017 that she decided to change her last name professionally because “an uncomfortable amount” of the feedback she received from auditions had to do with her not looking how people expected her to look.

“I had a casting director tell me 'You're not quite white enough for the role, but you're not quite Asian enough for the best friend role,' ” Bennet said. “That kind of continually happened and my dad's first name is actually Bennet. So in Chinese culture, your father's name is a really big honor and so it only felt natural to take his first name, so I still honor him in that way.”

She was a pop star in China

Before she became an actress, Bennet was briefly a pop star in Shanghai. She moved to China when she was around 15 to live with her paternal grandmother and released three singles under her birth name, Chloe Wang: “Uh Oh,” “Every Day In Between” and “This Is Called Home.”

Bennet told the Chicago Tribune that she convinced her parents to let her move abroad by promising to become fluent in Mandarin. After almost two years of recording and performing in China, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

“In Asia, I didn’t feel like I was Chloe,” she said. “I felt like I was acting like someone in Asia. I was acting like Chloe Wang, a pop star, that was like a character for me, if anything.”

She previously dated Logan Paul and Charles Melton

In 2023, Bennet dated Charles Melton, best known for his roles in Riverdale and the Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore film May December. She also dated YouTuber Logan Paul for a few months in 2018.

Though Bennet is typically private about her love life, she did talk about the unique way she filters her dating prospects during a 2018 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“A big thing I always do on dates is ... without fail, every time I put food in my teeth on purpose,” she said. “You can judge anything you need to know about a person by how they react to s--- in your teeth.”

Bennet has two dogs, Arthur and Wally, and both of her pups make frequent appearances on her Instagram account. She’s shared photos of how Arthur hoards his toys and the outfits she wears to walk Wally.

“Happy #nationaldogday to the only consistent men in my life,” Bennet captioned a 2020 carousel of images and videos of her dogs. “I love you both. And most importantly I love all of our quality time together."
