Sunrise viewers demand fill-in hosts be made permanent in 2025: 'Best team'
Fans have praised Monique Wright and David Woiwod’s time on the show this week.
They’ve been teamed up for less than a week, but Sunrise viewers have already called for Monique Wright and her new co-host David Woiwod to have a permanent position on the breakfast show. The on-air duo, who typically host Weekend Sunrise, have been filling in for Natalie Barr and Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington over the Christmas period alongside sports presenter Mark Beretta and Weekend Sunrise’s newsreader Sally Bowrey.
Over the past few days, the ‘B team’ have played Christmas games, danced to Guy Sebastian and joked about solutions for David’s sty. The show’s Instagram also posted a hilarious blooper reel on Thursday showing the pair having to film multiple takes of the following day’s promo.

Viewers have taken to social media throughout the week to praise Monique and David’s chemistry, with some people even going so far as to say they are the “best team on TV” and they should permanently host Sunrise.
“These two are so great together! Love them both. Get rid of Natalie and keep Monique on full time,” one person wrote, while another added, “Mon is a breath of fresh air on Sunrise, love watching her”.
“Love Mon she should be the host of Sunrise during the week. Such a natural, so much fun,” a third replied, followed by a different user who said, “Loving this team!”.
“Love how well he has slotted in. What a beautiful person,” someone else shared about David, with another writing, “I think he is suited perfectly to the team well done Mon & David”.
“@dawoiwod has fitted right into this role. Love him and Mon together. Great replacement for Matt [Doran]. Well done,” one fan commented.
Monique's hilarious Christmas music video
Sunrise viewers were also in stitches on Friday morning when the show aired Monique’s Christmas music video she filmed “a long time ago” with The Morning Show’s Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies and former Seven star Sally Obermeder.
The video, set to Casey Donovan’s cover of ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, features the group of presenters dressed in Christmas attire as they sing, dance and play musical instruments. One scene also shows Monique twerking on a Christmas tree before accidentally falling on top of it.
Monique and Matt burst into laughter when watching the video, especially at the start when she asks someone off-camera: “You want a little twerk werky?”.

He added: “We’ll have that on loop all morning.”
