Sunrise's Mark Beretta splits from wife of 22 years: 'Best for us'
The TV presenter says he and his wife Rachel remain 'good friends'.
Just a few months after selling their Sydney home, Sunrise star Mark Beretta has announced that he and his wife Rachel have split after 22 years of marriage.
The 57-year-old sports presenter confirmed the sad news to Yahoo Lifestyle on Saturday via a Channel Seven spokesperson.
“At the start of the year, after a great deal of reflection and 22 years of marriage, Rach and I came to the conclusion that a separation was best for us,” he said.
“We remain good friends, and our two children and grandchild remain our focus and priority as we move forward with love, dignity, and respect."

Mark and Rachel first met in 1999 after their friends set them up on a blind date, and married in 2001.
They share two teenage children, 19-year-old Ava and 16-year-old Dan, and one grandson, Arlo.
The former couple sold their luxury home in Mosman, Sydney in May for $13 million, which was $2.5 million less than their initial asking price of $15.5 million.
'Really happy'
While Mark has worked at Channel Seven since the ‘90s and even briefly hosted Sunrise from 2002 to 2004, he told Yahoo Lifestyle earlier this year that he had no ambition to take over from David 'Kochie' Koch after he announced his departure.
“Look, I'm really selfish, I love what I do too much," he said. “I love sport, I love the people, it's my passion – I get to work in my passion. And it keeps me connecting with things, like I get to go to the Olympic Games, I've been to 13 Summer and Winter Olympic Games. And, you know, it's a different life when you're in that seat.
“I'm really happy, I'm thrilled for Shirvo, because I've known him obviously a long, long time and he's a lovely guy and to have him come in and take that role, personally I couldn't think of anyone better.”
