Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night flipped a portion of Donald Trump’s rant about American flags being flown at half-staff during his inauguration ― in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who died last month ― right back on the president-elect.
Trump last week fumed about the flags situation on his Truth Social platform: “Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it.”
Colbert zinged: “Coincidentally, that is also the title of ‘The Late Show’s’ inauguration coverage ’25.”
The audience erupted in applause and Colbert took a bow.
