It's May the 4th, aka Star Wars appreciation day, and a number of brands are getting in on the fun this year with new releases, sales and some extra special merch.

Here, we've collected the best that's on offer in Australia, starting with the home of Star Wars, Disney Plus.

Stream the new Star Wars releases on Disney Plus

The streaming platform is marking Star Wars day with a special edit including a cute, three minute Simpsons animation called The Force Awakens From Its Nap, featuring little Maggie Simpson.

There are also two new releases, Star Wars Biomes and Star Wars Vehicle Flythroughs, the first of which is a ‘virtual vacation’ to some of the franchise’s most interesting locations, while the latter explores the interiors and exteriors of some of the ships.

Be your own LEGO master

LEGO is highlighting some new and hard to find sets this May the 4th, including the newly updated R2-D2 which comes with a hidden light sabre, and the Millennium Falcon, which is one of the largest LEGO sets around.

Also featured is the helmet collection with the new Darth Vader and Scout Trooper helmets, as well as the Fighter Pilot and Stormtrooper ones, priced at $90.

However, if you’re looking for a bargain, Target is currently selling the Darth Vader helmets for just $69, and Amazon Australia has slashed the price of the Fighter Pilot and Stormtrooper helmets to $69 as well.

Get into a Star Wars game

Get into the spirit of the day with a game of Star Wars Squadrons, which is currently on sale on Amazon Australia. Both the PS4 and XBOX One versions have been slashed by 40% to just $24 each.

If you prefer a good old fashioned board game, Baby Yoda makes an appearance in The Mandalorian Monopoly, which you can pick up for $45 from Typo.

Meanwhile, Games Empire has a number of Star Wars games currently on sale including roleplaying games Edge of the Empire and Age of Rebellion.

Other Star Wars merch

Settle in to watch the whole saga again with a Mandalorian hooded blanket from Oodie to keep you cosy on the couch. Made with flannel fleece on the outside and sherpa fleece on the inside, these baby Yoda prints come in men’s, women’s, and kids’ sizes and are currently on sale, starting from $79.

However, due to the popularity of this print, if you order now for the discounted price, you’ll unfortunately have to wait a month before your Oodie arrives.
