‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Final Season Trailer Promises Interstellar Chaos as Animated Series Comes to a Close

Paramount+ has debuted the trailer for the fifth and final season of the animated comedy “Star Trek: Lower Decks.” The first two episodes will premiere on Thursday Oct. 24 on the Paramount + streaming service.

The 10-episode season produced by CBS Studios will drop every Thursday from its release date through to Dec. 19.

In this season the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos must close all “space potholes,” which are subspace rifts unleashing chaos into the Alpha Quadrant. This combined with their ongoing diplomatic problems leaves them with a rather full plate as junior officers Mariner, Boimer, Tendui and Rutherford deal with: an Orion war, furious Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries and their own ambitions.

The “Star Trek” franchise remains a priority at Paramount under the purview of franchise shepherd Alex Kurtzman. Even with “Lower Decks” ending, the company has the third season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” in the works, as well as the upcoming “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” series. And the new original streaming movie “Star Trek: Section 31″ starring Michelle Yeoh is due out in 2025.

“Star Trek: Lower Decks” streams exclusively on Paramount + in the U.S. and Latin America and is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. It produced by CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios’ animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Executive producers include Kurtzman, Mike McMahan, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth. Titmouse, the Emmy Award-winning independent animation production company,  is the animation studio for the series.
