‘Squid Game’ Season 3's Release Date Confirmed After Leak

Squid Game's second round has fans reeling after its bloody season finale. But most importantly, it has us wondering just what is going to happen next to Gi-hun and the rest of the remaining players after they put everything on the line to be able to leave. As we've already seen, you can't really trust all the players who are in the game. And then there's also Jun-ho's search for the island, his brother, and the games. So what exactly is coming up next as the show reaches its upcoming end?

Here's everything we know about Squid Game season 3.

Is Squid Game season 3 happening?

Squid Game season 3 is coming and it's also meant to be the final season of the series, according to series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.

"When I first started writing… I thought it would just be Season 2," Hwang told TheWrap. "But the story got longer, and because I included a lot of characters and more incidents, the episodes increased."

What will season 3 of Squid Game be about?

The series will certainly continue from where season 2 ended off, which featured Gi-hun trying to stage a coup over the Pink Guards to try to stop the games once and for all. However, after being betrayed by Player 001 AKA In-ho and The Front Man, he is now back to square one in his plan. It looks like the games are set to continue with Gi-hun and the rest of the survivors playing, but there's also a mysterious mid-credits scene that has us wondering what else they have planned.

There's also Jun-ho who seemed close to finding out the truth, that is, until Captain Park was seen tampering with one of the drones. Was he sabotaging him this entire time? We're going to have to wait and see.

Netflix also released photos giving us a hint as to what to expect and they include Gi-hun getting locked in handcuffs and the other players discovering one of the caskets. Who is inside? We're going to have to wait to find out.

When will season 3 of Squid Game come out?

An official release date hasn't been revealed yet, but Netflix did confirm that the third and final season will come in 2025. However, the release date might have been accidentally revealed in a video that was posted by Netflix Korea on YouTube which had a release date of June 27, 2025.

Screenshots of the video also appeared on Reddit, so it's entirely possible that it's true. Netflix hasn't confirmed whether the date is correct or not, but a 6 month wait wouldn't be too odd.

And then it was officially confirmed on Netflix when the streamer revealed that the official poster for season 3:

Hopefully it's not too long of a wait as we're dying to see what happens next. Until then, we'll be here thinking of what the Front Man has planned next.
