Spoilers: Home and Away's Nikau is faced with life or death situation

Last week on Home and Away, Cash Newman (Nicholas Cartwright) found himself in a sticky situation with his girlfriend’s sister Rose Delaney (Kirsty Marillier) after spending the night together.

This week, we see more relationship trouble as Nikau Parata (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) comes to terms with Bella Nixon’s (Courtney Miller) departure from Summer Bay. There’s also a heroic surf rescue, a loved-up couple takes a big step and one of the residents faces serious jail time.

Nikau’s heroic surf rescue

While Nikau’s long-distance girlfriend Bella knows exactly what she wants to do in life, he isn’t sure what his future entails. Throwing himself into his surf patrol work, Nikau ends up rescuing a swimmer from a dangerous situation.

Kawakawa Fox-Reo opened up to Yahoo Lifestyle on what it was like filming the action-packed scenes.

“[It was] a bit exhausting as I’m not a particularly strong swimmer, so I got tired very quickly shooting in the water,” the star begins.

“But, also at the same time [it was] very enjoyable.”

The young couple has been through a lot together, including finding their way back to each other after Nikau cheated on Bella with Sienna. Desperate not to throw his relationship away, the lifeguard considers moving to New York to be with his girlfriend.

“I think Nikau wrestles between his love for Bella and his passion for the job he loves. He has a lot of factors to think about - his family, especially,” Kawakawa tells us.

The star also hints at an unintended consequence of his heroic rescue, when he gains an admirer called Naomi.

“Naomi arrives at a very vulnerable time for Nikau as he is put to the test at a difficult time during their relationship,” he explains.

Tane asks Felicity a big question

Tane Parata (Ethan Browne) and Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis) have seen their relationship go from strength to strength after being kidnapped by Anne last year. After declaring their love for each other in an epic scene at the Barrenjoey Lighthouse, fans have continually called for the pair to tie the knot.

While it doesn’t look like the couple are at that stage yet, the pair have been living together at the Parata house while Tane recovered from being stabbed at Salt. When Tane sees Felicity is packed and ready to return back to her caravan, he asks her to move in with him instead.

Are the pair ready to take the next step or will something else tear them apart?

The thought of prison time terrifies Mackenzie

After Mackenzie Booth (Emily Weir) decided to hand herself in to the police for her illegal gambling ring, she may be facing some severe consequences. She’s planning to plead guilty in her court case but knows there’s a high chance of facing prison time.

Add to this the stress of being evicted from her apartment and having to move in with her half-brother Dean Thompson (Patrick O’Connor) and girlfriend Ziggy Astoni (Sophie Dillman), and Mackenzie’s world is still crumbling around her.

The business owner tries to put on a brave face and carry on with life as normal, but the facade quickly drops as she gets closer to facing the music. Luckily for her, Dean has had an extensive criminal record and had a previous stint in jail. He’s able to support her, because if he can survive prison, so can she.

Is Jasmine gone for good?

It has been well known that Sam Frost has cut ties with the soap, but fans have been waiting to see how her character Jasmine Delaney leaves Summer Bay.

On Friday, Jasmine received a phone call from her dead husband Robbo Shaw’s (Jake Ryan) dad who let her know that Wendy had a heart attack, asking her to come and help the family at the farm. The nurse was quick to pack up and leave, telling Cash she loves him and asking him to take care of her siblings Rose and Xander Delaney (Luke Van Os).

While it’s not confirmed that this is the last time we’ll see Jasmine on the show, it’s highly unlikely she will make another appearance this year. Sam wrapped up filming on the soap in December 2021, and since the show films about five months in advance the timing makes sense.

Fans have been furious that Jasmine wasn’t given a proper farewell, but it could be a blessing in disguise — by not killing the character off, the door is open for the actress to return in the future.
