SNL Video: Dave Chappelle Brings Back Chappelle’s Show Hater Silky Johnson in Dating Sketch
Is that hate we smell in the air? Yes, everyone’s favorite hater is back — and still hatin’.
Dave Chappelle brought back his Chappelle’s Show character Silky Johnson, of “Playa Haters’ Ball” fame, in a sketch on this week’s Saturday Night Live. Silky and his fellow hater Beautiful, played by Chappelle’s Show co-star Donnell Rawlings, showed up as eligible bachelors on a YouTube dating show where women hold a balloon and pop it if they’re not interested in the guy.

Silky and Beautiful arrived in their usual finery, Silky wearing a red fedora and fur coat and Beautiful spraying hair spray everywhere. The girls immediately started popping their balloons, leading Beautiful to shout: “Oh Silky, they shootin’!” Even Silky telling them that he makes a living by purveying “precious goods and services, i.e., bitches” didn’t change their minds. He’s not a sex trafficker, though, he insisted. In fact, he doesn’t do traffic at all: “I take helicopters, bitch.”
Silky then turned his hater powers on the women, telling one girl played by Heidi Gardner that her green coat “looks like you skinned a Grouch.” He stopped in front of a girl played by musical guest GloRilla, who told him to keep walking with his “chipmunk-looking ass.” He asked her to bring out another balloon… but then he popped it away, on account of her “sassy mouth.” He fared a little better than the next bachelor, though: Ashy Larry, another Chappelle’s Show character played by Rawlings who’s cursed with ashy skin. Silky is looking pretty good now, right, ladies?
